Lauding the congressman's "pro-business record," the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorsed Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah, for re-election at a fund-raising dinner Friday in Ogden.

"It is imperative for members of the business community to unite and elect congressional representatives who are true believers in free enterprise," Richard Lesher said.

Speaking at a dinner that added $20,000 to Hansen's campaign war chest, Lesher said Hansen has a 100 percent voting record on issues important to business.

Lesher attacked Hansen's opponent in the race for Utah's 1st Congressional District seat in the U.S. House, Gunn McKay, for attracting organized labor support.

"Organized labor is well aware of Jim Hansen's record and has targeted him for defeat," Lesher said, urging voters to prevent that from happening.
