Ballet West travels to Cedar City this week for its initial season there, with 12 programs scheduled at the Centrum on the Southern Utah State College campus.

Appearing at the same time as the Utah Shakespearean Festival, the Ballet will add to Cedar City's growing reputation as the Festival City.Performance of the first week will be on July 13 and 14 at 8 p.m., also 2 and 8 p.m. on July 15 and 16. Scheduled for performance are works new to Ballet West's repertory, including Peter Anastos' "Arcadia" set to music of Handel, "Equinox" by James Canfield with electronic score, and "Concerto in Torquoise and Rust," a new choreography by Van Caniparoli, with music by Poulenc. The "Romeo and Juliet" pas de deux by Smuin-Prokofiev will complete the program, with Daniela Buson and Marcello Angelini, Rhonda Lee and Raymond Van Mason as the solo couples.

During the following week, the company will dance the full-length "Giselle" by Coralli-Perrot, in performances at 8 p.m. on July 19 and 20, and at 2 and 8 p.m. on July 21 and 22.
