Former Brighton High School athlete Kathy Casull led the Minnesota Gophers' women's softball team to the Big 10 championship this season.
Casull, daughter on Don and Janice Casull of Salt Lake City, led the Gophers in hitting with a .310 average. She also set the Minnesota career assist mark as the Gophers' third baseman.
She was named first-team all-Big Ten and second team all-Mideast Region. Last year as a sophomore she was named the team's MVP. As a freshman she helped the Gophers to another Big 10 championship.
Casull has also been named to the all-Big Ten academic team the last two years. The biology major has a 3.42 grade point average.
At Brighton High Casull was an all-state selection in basketball and volleyball and helped lead her softball team to three straight Utah state championships.
