The annual Farmington Festival Days celebration will be held July 15-16, including a parade, park activities, arts and crafts show and athletic competitions.

The crowning of Miss Farmington the evening of July 15 starts the celebration, which resumes the next day with a 7-9:30 a.m. breakfast in the downtown city park.The festival board this year is offering a special $10 family ticket which buys breakfast for the whole family (otherwise $2.50 each), $20 in coupons, and a drawing ticket for the prizes to be given away the afternoon of July 16, including the grand prize - a trip to Hawaii for two.

Other events scheduled July 16 include an 8 a.m. 5K run, an all-day tennis tournament and the annual parade, which will begin at 10 a.m. The theme of this year's parade is "Reflections."

The parade starts at Third North, proceeds south on Main Street to State Street, turns west, then turns south on Second West and back to Farmington Elementary School, adjacent to the city park, where it disbands.

Events following in the park include game, food and concession booths, with entertainment from noon to 3:15 p.m., including musical and dance groups, bands, jugglers and other entertainers.

Scooter and Big Wheel races for youngsters will be held, beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the park. As the festival winds up, prizes donated by local merchants will be given away - including the grand prize, a trip to Hawaii for two.

As the finale, 1,400 ping pong balls, some marked to be redeemed for prizes, will be dropped in the elementary school fields.
