Ed Hopson's inside strength and lightning quick hands lifted him to a stunning 3-2 upset victory Thursday over heavily-favored Kelcie Banks in the 125-pound weight class at the U.S. Olympic Boxing Trials.
Banks, of Chicago, came into the competition as one of the most highly-regarded of all American amateur fighters. He was the only American to win a gold medal at the Pan Am Games and was seemingly just months away from a lucrative professional career.
