Friends of Lt. Fred House, the officer killed during the Marion shootout in January, are planning a 5K Memorial Run at Point-of-the-Mountain Corrections Academy, east of the State Prison, July 16 at 8 a.m.

Other activities include karate demonstrations by House's students and Shotokan Karate of America; a combat pistol shoot; a noon wheelchair basketball game and a golf tournament at 11 a.m. at the Spanish Oaks Golf Course in Spanish Fork Canyon.Proceeds from the Fred House Memorial and Friendship Day will go to the officer's three children. Donations may be made to Friends of Fred, Deseret First Credit Union, 6060 S. Third East, Murray.

Registration fees are $10 for the 5K run and pistol shoot. The golf tournament fee is $10 plus green fees.
