RE: Catholic answers site.. The Restoration of the Gospel? As non-Catholic historians admit, it can be demonstrated easily that early Church writers, such as Ignatius of Antioch, Eusebius, Clement of Rome, and Polycarp, had no conception of Mormon doctrine, and they knew nothing of a "great apostasy."

Nowhere in their writings can one find references to Christians embracing any of the peculiarly Mormon doctrines, such as polytheism, *polygamy, celestial marriage, and temple ceremonies. If the Church of the apostolic age was the prototype of today’s Mormon church, it must have had all these beliefs and practices. But why is there no evidence of them in the early centuries, before the alleged apostasy began? E.g*…,

-A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife,..”(I Tim 3:2).,The Apostles did not maintain any O.T. pattern of polygamy and they and the early church condemned it.
Justin Martyr (c.160) rebukes the Jews for allowing polygamy . 2. Irenaeus (c.180) condemns the Gnostics for, among other things, polygamy 3. Tertullian (c.207)-Marriage to one wife

I issue my strongest possible condemnation that this was the best list of names they could come up with. What about Harry Reid or John Dehlin or even James the Mormon?

This is a wonderful story about changing the world through faith. We should all seek to do so. Not just as individuals, but as a society.

Indeed, changing the world through faith has a long history in this Country. Alexis de Tocqueville searched far and wide for the secret of American democracy. He eventually found it: "Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the greatness and the genius of America. America is good. And if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great."

In fact, William Penn stated that "If we will not be governed by God, we will be governed by tyrants. " Thomas Jefferson likewise stated, "The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time." In addition, George Washington said, "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports."

No one can go wrong by following the example of those profiled in this story. We must all seek to do so.

How about Steve Young, who founded the nonprofit organization "Forever Young" to help kids. Or how about the Osmonds, who have never been shy about living LSD standards, or Alex Boye (sp), or Gladis Knight, or John Huntsman, sr., or Mitt Romney? I would bet there tons of Mormon men and women who do great things, but don't look for, or receive recognition for their work. But hey, let's be honest and point out that there are many good people, both LDS and non LDS, who do good works every day.
