"Now, as for the Red Rocks (Hey Utes, find a nickname and stick with it) "

They didn't care for the "Lady Utes" thing so they found something else. I would totally vote for it in the event that Utah ever needs to change the Utes name.

"These are the primary factors used in determining the Directors Cup standings. "

Looks like BYU primarily gets points from volleyball (mens and womens) and the 6 running sports (mens and womens indoor track, outdoor track, and cross country). Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just nice to have a massive pile of sports that are all pretty close to the same thing to bolster the score during years where you otherwise get crushed in the Deseret Duel.

"Also, the Utes won the PAC-12 in baseball last year, or are you forgetting that fact too?"

Actually the baseball team is a strong argument for two things. One, they weren't PAC-12 ready, they had a long string of last places in the conference. (The argument others are making that not winning a conference title means they weren't ready is silly, not being ready means being bottom third of the conference). However, baseball's also a symbol of the significant development that has occurred the last few years. And they certainly aren't the only ones to get better, which is why articles like this exist.

Sheesh! Both sides give it a rest. It's all so tiring. This article is about women's gymnastics.

Great year Red Rocks. You bring honor to your school, conference and state.

"The Red Rocks have been the only program at the U that consistently competes for PAC 12 championships."

Meanwhile - the school you root for has never competed for the WCC men's basketball championship, can't beat big brother in practically every sport any more, and are still on the P5 outside looking in.

Thanks for caring so much about Utah so much that you even bring your Ute-hate to women's gymnastics.

Congratulations Red Rocks! On to nationals!

    Go Utes!

    Bluto;
    "Sherifff Sitake has arrived.....Buckle up!"

First of all, I've always like Sitake, but if he out does Bronco, which he may very well do so. I all but guarantee he'll bail to a P5 program. With BYU stuck indefinitely in Indyland, they'll continue to struggle with "top" recruits, and be going down a dead end street. Y fans should be optimistic about Sitake, but I would wait at least three to four seasons to see how he does. And this season isn't going to be much a true test with a heavy laden Mtn West schedule. And an even more heavy laden two star recruiting bananza. I'll give it one more month before the preseason hype from Provo really starts to boil over.

    Pluto:

Nice of you to skip over the Deseret First Duel results in head-to-head results (sorry, you got smoked again), the latest trends (10-of-13 in football, so deputy Sitake has his work cut out to be promoted to sheriff), and the fact that the Red Rocks (they've earned that nickname, cosmo) put more fans in the seats than all of the coog's Olympic sports, combined.

Sorry, that "P5 equivalent" thing isn't working out for you.

Utah has never topped BYU in "overall" athletic program prowess, i.e. Directors cup..

BYU currently has 4 Top 20 teams.
BYU has a larger fan base than Utah could ever dream of.

Now, as for the Red Rocks (Hey Utes, find a nickname and stick with it) Congratulations.

    Pac-12 Champs in Womens Gymnastics......

So you've got that going for you... which is nice.

You Y fans/Ute Haters are taking your vial hatred to a new level with some of these comments. Why not represent your university and it's mission of good sportsmanship?

And for you to say that gymnastics is the only program that was "PAC-12 ready".....that implies that BYU would've been "ready" when all of the evidence is to the contrary. When your football team loses every game to the Utes since you've gone independent, and has lost the past 3 in basketball, then that theory doesn't hold the blue Koolaid you drink, does it?

Also, the Utes won the PAC-12 in baseball last year, or are you forgetting that fact too?

Congrats to the RED ROCKS on an outstanding championship....on to the nationals!

Wonder what made the gym coaches so embittered toward Utah's team, or just Skinner, to not recognize her as either newcomer of the year or gymnast of the year.

    Don't kid yourself.

The Utes are the only team in the PAC 12 South that has never even won a division title, let alone, a conference title.

Nobody cares if you've ever been "in a position to win" the conference, because the Utes ALWAYS have a November meltdown.
