Sounds like he was much more like Mr Holland (from Mr Holland's Opus)...
not the music man.The Harold Hill was a scammer (trying to scam the
town out of their money, until his heart was snared by the lovely librarian and
her son and he changed his mind). But he was really out to scam the town out of
their money and then run (at first). This is much more like the story
in Mr Holland's Opus. It's good we have good people like this around.
We could use a few more of them.
Jack was the orchestra teacher at Bountiful High when I was a kid. He was a kind, understanding, and loving mentor. And an excellent music
teacher. God bless Jack Ashton. He hasn't made a fortune,
maybe, but he has left a legacy of wealth that can't be measured.
Great story on a great legacy.
Jack Ashton has touched the lives of most our eleven children and many of our
grandchildren, most of which have studied with him at Olympus High. He is like
family to us. What a beloved man.
