@Sparkleybriefs,What glory in beating small fish? Exactly unless you are
a small fish too. Utah is a small fish in the PAC 12 only hoping to beat the
other tiny fishes...Washington State, Oregon State, and Colorado. What glory is
there in losing to the large fish time after time, waiting for that occasional
lurker (Stanford for example) to take the bait. If you are happy with the small
fish fry, being the meal for the sharks, you should be very happy as a Ute. As
an ASU and USU fan I can tell you it is much more satisfying to contend for the
conference championships and perhaps make it to the Rose Bowl. ASU 19 wins
Utah 6 (and none in recent memory!!)
What glory is there in beating the small fish? I'd rather take my chances
battling the sharks. Sure you are going to get a good thrashing here and there,
but the accomplishment of landing a big one is so much more satisfying. The
taxidermy man gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him! Go Utes!
Ute fans definitely have a fair point with SOS, but that's just it. Looking
at the schedule I think you are looking at a 4-8 year:@Michigan -
not what they once were, but still the big house = Loss@7 UCLA - Loss15 USC - Loss@19 ASU - Loss3 Oregon - Loss@11 Stanford -
LossThen you add in a road game at Oregon St. who you never know
what you will get from. You play @Colorado final game in the year in what is
supposed to be some big rivalry now apparently, and I'm sure they'll
be just as desperate for a win as the Utes. And, I'm not gonna count out a
good Fresno St. coming into SLC after they've actually had solid prep vs.
USC and the Utes were playing 4th string guys against the boys from Pocatello.
Could be ugly... Rather beat the small fish, and play for a prize in December
than have no football to look forward to this holiday season.
Chris BBYU is not a gimme win. Far from it every year.
I really like Whittingham and had hoped for the best, but I am afraid he will be
gone after this year. Once again, there is no chance they go to a bowl game let
alone go 7-5. There comes a time when just being in a league isn't good
enough, you need to produce.
Which is better, a losing record and a fired coach in the PAC 12, or an
independent going to the Miami Beach Bowl? That is the real question.
Utah will do the best with the schedule they have, although the total wins may
be higher in Provo or Logan. The evidence of this will be the which team goes
to the superior bowl game, which in my opinion will be Utah. As
always, go Utes!!
