They'll need all the help they can get.Bronco's Cougars
have a 3-7 record when venturing east of the Mississippi River.
I like the idea of traveling early to acclimate but the biggest preparation
should be in the heads of these kids. They need to step on the field wherever
they go 'expecting to win'. Our boys looked so flat and uninspired at
Virginia last year. It was like their biggest effort was in the ritual before
each offensive series of huddling on the side and running in together. After
that, they looked to loose in their execution of each play. The line didn't
snap up and start their blocks fast enough, Taysom was slow to read and find
receivers. Receivers dropped balls. Running backs didn't start fast enough
off the hand-off. Basic stuff but it put together a picture that their heads
weren't in the game. We saw a different, better way of
execution against Texas. Against Utah, again our boys entered their own field
not looking like they expected to win. This kind of preparation
comes from the coaching staff and has to take hold with the captains of the
defense and offense. These kids have to decide how badly they want to win.
UConn did lose by three points to Michigan, won their last three games, and have
plenty of time to prepare for this game.Don't over look them.
