@CougsndawgsIt's very, very rare to see a tie in football. You
either win or lose. That's the way it should be. tinplaterThey are facts. I speak the truth. Have you not been demeaning
Utah/BYU and SUU's records? In fact you just did while mentioning USU and
SUU in the same sentence. Take Keeton out of the equation(which he will be next
year) and the score is much closer. Another fan just did what you claim I do.
It is always true.
@tinplater-Same old stuff from Chris B and Stang08. They don't really want
to comment intellectually. Just want to demean other teams. It is too bad that
they do not really uphold the class that the University of Utah has or SUU. I
know that there are classy Utah fans that represent their university well and do
not try to demean other teams. I think USU and BYU are going to have great
seasons and Utah is looking at 1-11. My previous quote from Bruce Feldman about
Utah being the "Flop Team" from the PAC 10+2 looks like a realistic
assessment. But I am sure Crispy and Stang08 will keep right on tearing down the
other Utah teams. I don't know why they comment it is always the same
@chris b,Just pointing out that Stang0 posts "facts" that are not
(read his post). He doesn't comprehend that ties were indeed part of
football in years past. Understand your feeling about Utah USU...same way I
feel about ASU Utah. Once in a while the Utes win, but not very often. (record
19 6 for ASU, I believe which is worse percentage than USU Utah or USU BYU!)
And of course Stang0's birds haven't ever beaten USU so why he wants
to demean a schools record is beyond me.
Stang08:I thought about whether it was worth it t post this or not, but
CFB used to have ties instead of OT. It's why every single rivalry series
that you see has some ties in it from Florida-FSU to Georgia-GT, they all have
ties. And it's a miracle but I agree with Chris B: it probably
just feels like USU wins every 100 years. I, for one, hope USU continues their
upward trend and changes that.
Don't know where you came up with that number since you can only tie in
soccer not football. BYU and Utah are far superior to Utah State. No matter
the final record Utah and BYU always seem to beat USU. It's rare that
either losses. Chris B speaks the truth. As he does in most occasions.
Thanks for the honest answers, to those of you who have posted so far.I do think some have misunderstood the question, though. I'm not asking
which schedules, but which seasons overall (including outcomes). I don't
know if that changes anyone's answers.
tinplater,I guess Stang is just talking about what it feels like.
Having watched the last 20 byu usu games and the last 20 Utah usu games it only
feels like usU wins one of out of every 100.
Stang0, you are again misinformed. The overall record is BYU 46 wins USU 34 and
three ties. How does that add up to a USU victory every 100 years?
@Water Rocket-Here is what the Volunteer fans are saying about USU. "The
2014 opener will be a little different for the Vols then in 2013, as Utah State
possesses a potential Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Chuckie Keeton.
The Vols, on average, are currently favored by about a touchdown over the
Aggies. But all that means, essentially, is this could be a much tougher game
than most Vol fans want to admit. So it seems appropriate, on the last day of
Vols training camp, that Tennessee began their preparations for the opener,
which is less than two weeks away. The Vols, according to sophomore
linebacker Jalen Reeves-Mabin, watched some Utah State game film on Monday. The
Aggies are squarely on the Vols’ radar. There will be no overlooking Utah
State by Tennessee.Vols true freshman running back Jalen Hurd alluded to that on
Monday by saying that he wakes up every single day and thinks about Utah
State." From All For Tennessee website. USU gets more respect from real SEC
fans than some PAC 10+2 wannabees.
No FatMan86 I do not. But neither is USU. After and probably some point during
the Tennessee game USU will be playing at less than full strength. The only
"weapon" if you can call him that is Keeton and he doesn't last
long. Utah and BYU lose to USU once every 100 years. It's just a fact.
Riverton Cougar:I'd pick 2013. In 2009, Utah finished the
regular season 9-3, and ranked #23. And what did we get for that as a reward?
An unranked, 8-4 Pac-10 team in the postseason. That's not necessarily a
"bad" ending to a successful season, but the "complaint" here
would be that that's really the best we could have hoped for. We also only
had 3 games that we could look forward to.But in 2013, we got to
play 8-5 Arizona, PLUS #9 Oregon (11-2), #11 Stanford (11-3), #16 UCLA (10-3),
and #19 USC (10-4). So essentially, our 2009 Las Vegas Bowl
opponent -- 8-5 Cal -- is equivalent to our regular season 8-5 'Zona
(2013). 2009 and 2013 Oregon is a push, Stanford edges TCU, UCLA blows the
doors off our little brother down south, and nobody left on our schedule comes
anywhere near touching USC.Edge: 2013.P.S.: In 2009,
TCU went undefeated....and all they got was Boise St. Very disappointing. That
sort of thing doesn't happen to Pac-12 champions.
@FatMan86-Looks like the writers at MSN agree with you as far as the Utes go, in
a summary of the PAC 10+2 this is what Bruce Feldman had to say about "Flop
Teams" Feldman: Utah Utes. They have been sputtering since arriving in the
conference and don't be surprised if the bottom drops out in 2014. The rest
of the league has elevated from when Utah planned the move to the Pac-12, and
with CU improving, the hunch here is that Utah will end up in the South division
cellar. Ouch, plus being listed as a "Flop Team". Feldman also predicted
that with that flop that the U will be parting ways with Coach Whittingham.
@ Riverton Cougar2013, all day long. Watching Utah line up against
elite teams is very exciting. Plus the ceiling is SO much higher with a
schedule like the Utes had in 2013.
Uteology:"Tom Holme needs to get on it and get the "Flying
Angles" on BYU's 2015 schedule."Ok, I have to admit
that was pretty funny.
@CodyCougarFrom Money Magazine Rankings of Best Colleges . . .9. BYU107. USU122. UtahJust like football
rankings perhaps Chris B. can bring some clarity to this confusion.----------------If I may, I would like to provide you with some
clarity. I don't think Tom will use the list to make a pitch to the Big 12
anytime soon. Do you?The following are ALL ranked higher than
Caltech, Berkley, Yale and others:1. Babson College2. Webb
Institute7. Harvey Mudd College8. Cooper Union for the Advancement
of Science and Art9. BYUThat's just laughable! Just like
their football programs.Some more:144. Ohio State147. Wisconsin214. ASU223. Nebraska233. Florida State

get on it and get the "Flying Angles" on BYU's 2015 schedule.
Utah 7-5BYU 11-1USU 9-3Utah needs to step-up, our first
PAC-12 class are seniors now. It's a brutal schedule but Utah has the
talent to win seven. Can Utah State win in Provo? More importantly,
if they do will the MWC officials get pelted with garbage?
Riverton,Give me 2013. It was a rough year in the W/L column, but
there were a lot of great games that went down to the wire with several very
good teams. I can't remember ever looking forward to games against the old
WAC/Mt West - other than games with BYU and TCU. Now we have great opponents
almost weekly. Certainly you looked forward to games against Texas, Utah, ND,
and Wisconsin last year. It's why Tom Holmoe is out looking for tough
opponents. You don't beat them as often, but you love the challenge. And
when you do beat a great team, it feels like Ty Detmer taking down Miami. Just
Just like last year, there are at least seven teams on BYU's schedule who
would beat Utah.BYU, is the University of Utah!
Lets go Aggies! This has the makings of a great year for USU's program.
As a season ticket holder I can't wait to get it started. Every game is
winnable for the Aggies.
Would you Utah fans rather have 2009 season repeats or 2013 season repeats?
I'm curious to hear what you have to say.
Stang,Even if BYU wins the USU game, do you really think they are
going 10-2? They have Boise St in Boise, Texas in Austin, and UCF in Orlando.
Really? Also, how many more games are they going to have to play at less than
full strength because of honor code suspensions? Step away from
Chris B style delusions (bowl game......mark it down). And
you've got problems if you're hanging your hat on a yearly win over
Both BYU and Ute fans are delusional. Can you really not see the Utah 0-8 run
starting with Michigan and ending with Stanford? You just aren't going to
beat teams like this with Mtn West style talent. Oh and BYU is
dreaming about 10 wins too. Chalk up losses vs Texas, UCF, and Boise St. Utah
St, Nevada, and Houston are not automatic either. Better plan on 7-5, not 10-2.
Chris B and BYU homer nation both need a reality check.
From Money Magazine Rankings of Best Colleges . . .9. BYU107.
USU122. UtahJust like football rankings perhaps Chris B. can
bring some clarity to this confusion.
Absolutely amusing, Chris B's harping on USU strength of schedule. Of
course our schedule doesn't have the "strength" of a P5 conference.
That is a foregone conclusion. USU's schedule will always be
"weaker" than Utah's. So what to do? Forget about it! Cheer on
your team and hope you have the best season possible. I guarantee you I can
have just as much enjoyment out of watching USU succeed as Chris can supporting
the Utes. And odds are I am more likely to be a satisfied fan at the end of the
season than Chris will be.
The argument is getting soooo old.Yes, Utah is a member of the
PAC-12. Yes, they play a difficult schedule. Yes, BYU fans wish our schedule
was better. But Pre-season SOS rankings are pointless. We saw a
Auburn team coming off a 3-9 season with a brand new Coaching staff play in the
National Championship last season- They were picked to be last in the SEC.
Anything can happen. That being said, BYU has 5 teams on the schedule coming
off losing seasons, 3 of which were 1-11. We will likely see BYU's SOS
improve when Cal and Virginia get a couple more wins this season. Even if it does not improve much, BYU (#97 SOS) is in pretty good company with
Alabama (#95 SOS) and Oklahoma (#93 SOS)
"The article is about BYU, USU and Utah and yet not a single comment solely
about Utah? It seems no Utah fan can comment on Utah without including comments
about BYU!"Kralon, there is actually not a single comment that
talks solely about one team except one comment. Every single comment from Utah,
USU, and byu fans includes at least 2 of the 3 teams except for Chris B.'s
comment that only talks about Utah. What on earth are you talking about?
Keep on dreaming Maxie. The Utes will win 7 games this year. The momentum will
continue building. Its a great time to be a Ute!
"Did wont change the fact that they lose 9 games this year."I don't understand this sentence.
I guess utie fans have moved beyond the pac ten stickers and on to the sos
stickers.Did wont change the fact that they lose 9 games this year.
Love the attention from all the BYU fans! The article is about BYU,
USU and Utah and yet not a single comment solely about Utah? It seems no Utah
fan can comment on Utah without including comments about BYU!Admittedly BYU's schedule is weaker than desired, but if anyone thinks
they could do better than than Holmoe and ESPN in scheduling every game, every
year, please let us know!
BYU wins 10 plus. Utah wins 1-5 games. We all know this. USU has a shot at
winning MWC. All the Ute fans have is the our-schedule-is-better-than-yours
argument. they know the season is over before it begins
"Coach Christensen at Utah will be the most valuable person this season and
I hope he is the future coach of our great program."Sounds like
Chris B is predicting the firing of Whittingham and hoping his replacement is
"per chris, a "good" schedule and losing is better than a
"bad" schedule and winning."I would agree that it is
better to have one of the best schedules in the country and struggle than having
one of the worst schedules in the country and win 10 games. Most of my extended
family are byu fans and we had a discussion about this just a few days ago.
Every single one of them agreed that they would rather play Utah's schedule
and struggle than play byu's schedule and win 10 games. There
is nothing glorious in beating bad teams. What are your thoughts
Ifel Ofa Sofa? If you were an NBA caliber basketball player, would you rather
play in the D-League and be a superstar and win a lot of games, or in the NBA
and struggle at times, but you know you're playing against the best
competition? Money aside.
"Small teams play small ball and celebrate small rewards(beach bowl,
preseason also receiving votes). lol."Is celebrating your SOS
certificate a "small reward" or a big one? How about celebrating your
annual holiday ritual of gathering around the PAC12 wreath and singing carols
while cheering on your big brothers that actually represent the PAC12 in bowl
games? Small team with small consolations indeed. Have fun with that...again.
I would like to know what BYU, Utah and USU's first game opponents are
saying about our teams?
ChrisB has made the same tired comments/predictions the last few years about the
utes and said the same thing about Dennis Erickson. That crystal ball
you have seems cracked chris.per chris, a "good" schedule
and losing is better than a "bad" schedule and winning.2012
season, USU had a "bad" WAC schedule and was in the top 25 at the season
end. how could that be chris?
Cletus from Coalville,For the Utes, it ain't over till
it's over.USU will probably get an interesting matchup in their
bowl game.I might watch byu play texas and USU on my new big screen
hdtv. As for the rest of their schedule and prearranged beach bowl, nah.
We Utah fans get to enjoy being at home and home having way fun watching usu and
byu play in bowl games in slc on our new big screen tv and that will be way
Ags and Cougars will win 10+ games each. Utes will go 5-7 (again) and be stuck
in the couch potato bowl (again). Mark it down!
Chris B,Small teams play small ball and celebrate small
rewards(beach bowl, preseason also receiving votes). lol.
I predict Utah goes 7-5 and goes to the best bowl game of anyone in the
state.Coach Christensen at Utah will be the most valuable person
this season and I hope he is the future coach of our great program.
