Go Dixie! I like that my alma mater now is always seeming to be in the
discussion for 3AA state champion, along with the other schools from Washington
County. But I think it is odd with how they have the 3A
classification split in to 3AA and 3A and then have about half the schools in
each sub classification make the playoffs. I have not paid too much attention to
this in some time, but is there really that big of a difference between the size
of the 3AA schools and the 3A? And if so why is the split only for football?
Frankly it cheapens the Football State Championship in football for 3AA and 3A
especially when the larger classifications have twice as many teams per
classification. On a side note it seems odd that Payson is in the
"South" division of 3AA when all the other schools are a good 2-3 hour
drive from Payson. Every road game for them is a day-long trip. I guess given
who else, other than Southern Utah teams who are in 3AA it makes sense, but just
another reason the 3AA and 3A split in football doesn't make sense to me.
