With a 40%+ vacancy rate the mall is on its way out, its just a matter of time. The Gateway just took a little longer to lose its luster but the signs are there. I visited the mall one time many years ago and was not impressed by its food or shops or prices. Never bought anything then and I've never been back. Being down town is not guarantee of success unless you are privately owned and operated and reputable old town shop 60 years old.

The economy is still drying up and jobs disappearing and our government agency's don't get it, things have gotten worse and you can't takes everybody income as taxes for schools so wake up. The Recession is real, economy is collapsed, poverty is the way of life.

SLC is not a destination attraction for over 50 years now and is fast becoming skid row and impoverish city. the out-lying communities are even removing support and taxation to fund the UTA and bus services.
