Re: Mountanman "We have been transformed into another foundering European socialist society. A society where our founding fathers escaped and fought to be free of!"

The colonies were founded under and practiced European mercantilism, a very socialist brand of market. The concept of the self-regulating market develops after most of the "founders" are dead.

FYI, of the founders the most mercantilist was Alexander Hamilton.

First, you should look at truly socialist societies before making hyperbolic comments like that.

Second, I was completely unaware that our founding fathers escaped socialist societies. I thought they were escaping European monarchies and the lack of representation as colonies of the crown. Talk about your revisionist history....

The last time I checked, there were still wars going on in the middle east. Obama wont send troops home. They will be there until the puppet masters who control him are taken out of power.

Most of us were hoping? I seem to remember a lot of talk about wanting to make sure Obama failed and doing wverthong possible to make him a one term president but nice attempt at rewriting history.

@ Shaun. If its only my perception that America is on the decline, I am in the majority according to several recent polls! Take another drink of your blue koolaid and keep believing our country isn't declining in every way a nation can decline!

So when exactly do all Americans get access to this wonderful health care you are talking about. Millions of Americans lost their health care policies thanks to Obamacare. While we were promised than the average family would see $2500 in savings, premiums have gone up and are projected to go up again next year. We were promised that you could keep your doctor X wrong again. Moreover, it is not free. If you do not want to pay for a health care plan, the government will tax you for the right not to buy their policies. The only people who saved are those who are now receiving government subsidies. Yea, more Americans on welfare. We should all be so happy.

As for Obama reducing the deficit, Obama has amassed more debt in 5 years than Bush did in 8. That is quite an accomplishment. As for unemployment - Obama has succeeded by keeping the economy so bad that people simply drop out of the work force. I am sure we we can get employment even lower by putting more on welfare and disability. That's hope and change for you.

An administration of bungles: Fast and Furious, the IRS, the VA, the ACA and its roll out, an attorney general who selectively enforces federal laws, an opaque presidency, imperial appointments, a sovereign debt that will more than double under his watch, Wall Street gains for the wealthy, a spurious unemployment figure that includes low paying and part time jobs, a foreign policy highlighted by indecision, financially disastrous crony capitalism, campaign strategy of class warfare, too much golf and fund raising while important events are ignored and the most partisan president ever. That's only a start.

    Oh come one Elvin.

How can you say the change has not been for the better?

GW left us with a giant hole in the ground where the Twin Towers once stood, mired in two unnecessary wars, and in the greatest financial distress since the Great Depression of the 1930's.

Believe me, the change under Obama has been for the better.

And you're proud of having voted for Romney?

    Why?

Romney is GW Bush, version 2.0

This nation needs more Republican "Leadership" like it needs another hole in the ground.

In today's DN Letter to Editor there were only two letters fanning the flames of the Anti-Obama faction! There were at the time I read them about 19 comments to the letters. Of the 19 comments there were only two posts agreeing and they were by the same writer!

Could it be that the Neo's are finally realizing how pitifully embarrassing their constant "the sky is falling" rhetoric has become!

It's time for them to stop whining and put their cards on the table. Show us what you would do instead of the timeless lamenting that Obama won two elections. Six years down the road and the Pubs are still the party of NO-thing!

All I get out of this are sour grapes about Romney losing.

Why can't Romney fans get over it? He put on a nice Olympics but the American people have decided multiple times that they don't want him as President. Time to move on.

I'm convinced that people who don't think Obama has been a good president have obviously never seen the statistics which prove otherwise.

    No more 2 wars
The stock market has nearly doubled
    Unemployment cut in half
Millions of Americans now have health care
    Deficit has been cut

He did this all without help from the repub controlled house and filibustering senate.

What else do you people want?

"After five and a half years it appears what is mostly left is "change," and not for the better."

Only if you think access to health care for all is a bad thing. Only if you think tens of thousands of young men and women who are still alive because they didn't die in a foreign land for nothing is a bad thing. Only if you think ten of thousands of young people who live here and have always lived here who now have the chance to officially live here by providing self sacrificing service to this country is a bad thing. Only if you think lessening the burden of a higher education is a bad thing. Only if you think spending money to prevent economic collapse is a bad thing, and only if you think cutting annual deficits by three quarters is a bad thing.

    @ Elvin Bowler
Bush left behind eight years of the seven deadly sins and a country destroyed. Was you hoping it would be cleaned up with out sacrifice? Did you expect it to change with out hard work?

Roll up your sleeves and get to work! This country was no built on "I and ME" it is built on team work and community effort. Stop whining and get busy.
