I know this will fall on deaf ears, but putting a child on an ATV in the Utah backcountry is like like letting them drive a car through a museum.
Even adults don't experience the outdoors on an ATV, you are much too busy eating the dust of the vehicle in front of you and navigating the road to notice the flowers, the wildlife, all the things that you are just zipping by in your 4-wheel monstrosity. With kids, add the novelty and thrill of riding a motorized vehicle and you will guarantee that while they might have fun, they will get no appreciation for what they drove through.
Here's a radical idea: Leave the ATV in the garage and take a stroll on one of the dozens of trails up in our canyons. You might be amazed to see what you and your children have been missing.
