Gee I thought we were producing more Oil than ever before. Why the high proces if that is the case. Gas is a lot cheaper in the middle east.

@Idahotransplant
because our lovely capitalist can sale it for more money over seas. Funny how they cried about our oil shortage then send it over seas.

intervention -- you got it!

T'would be nice if we could keep our oil here. But that would cut Big Oil's profit margins.

Oil is known as an elastic commodity....it does not follow the traditional model of supply/demand economics, at least not on the supply side. That's a fancy way of saying they charge these prices because people will pay them. And people pay them because they have no other alternatives.

It's a manipulated market. I've seen it in action.

Maybe we should consider nationalizing the oil industry. Affordable transportation costs are vital to our economy and nation. Perhaps we should prevent the excessive greed of the oil corporations from standing in the way of our national security and progress.

But whatever we do, let's not do it in haste.

If liberals/green energy folks were thinking clearly, they'd be happy with increased gas prices. That could help facilitate a desire of the people to look to alternative energy sources and drive those little electric golf carts instead of trucks. But then, as I said, "thinking clearly". That's asking a lot from that crowd.
