Its better a slow government than a hasty document that can have some severe
economic impacts in our wilderness. Of course we know why all these permits have
been delayed, they are to fracture the core of the earth and destroy the
foundation and safety of environmental destruction out of sight and out of mind
for 40 years when it can't be undone.Who cars about the money
or billions of dollars or trillions of dollars if its going go kill man? All
this random lies betraying our environment and our futures is not worth any
amount of money or any amount of bureaucrats who only care about themselves.Fracking is not a proven safe way to drill for oil, suck up Governor,
take the lead and think of the peoples rights first. We don't need
government, we can regulate and govern ourselves without bureaucrats and career
liars and welfare departments. Its what we do, its what being an americans is
all about. Self sufficient, independent, and prosperous self governing
citizens. Its better to be safe than sorry to allow greedy
politicians and oil companies to squander our lives and families just for money.
Clearly all applications for Federal action should be handled competently,
efficiently, and expeditiously. And clearly there are improvements to be made.
But…what is the point of approving thousands of drilling
permits when we know that nearly all fossil fuel reserves need to remain exactly
where they are - in the ground. We have already exceeded the tolerable level of
CO2 in our atmosphere, according to nearly all measures and models. We need to
get beyond fossil fuels. As Princess Elsa might say - "let them
go…"And even if you are oblivious to the climate change
issue, the BLM doesn't have the budget to inspect and regulate existing
wells, raising a wide range of health and other environmental concerns. Until
they have the budget and staff to inspect and regulate drilling and production
of existing wells and leases, there should be a moratorium on new permits, new
approvals, new leases.Savvy investors and financiers are already
leaving - and divesting from - fossil fuel-based industries. They are putting
their money into 21st Century energy and resource activities. Those continuing
to invest in fossil fuels will eventually - and hopefully - lose their shirts -
Leave it to agencies under this administration to put a wrench in our becoming
energy independent, a vital issue for our national defense. Furthermore, gas
prices are double what they were under President Bush. The more delays and more
EPA power, the more gas prices will rise or remain high. That's a huge
burden on the average American, let alone those with low incomes. I can't
imagine all of the jobs that are not being created because of the ridiculous
burdens placed upon the oil and gas industries.
Interesting that the first comments are from the Wasatch Front the biggest
energy using part of the state. Maybe a few brownouts and a cutoff of natural
gas would bring reality back to the discussion. When the only wilderness you can
afford to visit is the Mount Olympus wilderness area.
To "MyChildrensKeeper" actually fracking has been proven to be safe.
The Federal Government did a big study, and found that it was a safe process.
It isn't a new process, and has been used for over 60 years. To
"joeandrade" here is the cool thing about mineral rights. Whenever
minerals or oil is extracted from the earth for commercial purposes, the Federal
Government collects royalties based on how much they pull out. Plus, the
government collects "rent" on all of the federal land. They could
afford the additional inspectors if they first allowed more drilling.
