I'm confused. The President said he is going to make the border more secure and round up all the recent illegals and send them home. Why would this make Mr Yapias and his group happy?? I thought they in favor of illegal immigration...why would this make them happy?

They should be turning those around ans sending them back. Our own people who live e below the poverty level can't get what these kids are getting

What happened to law enforcement in this country?

Records show the Administration knew the surge at the border was coming and did nothing to stop it. On January 29, 2014, the federal government posted an advertisement seeking bids for a vendor to contract to handle 65,000 ‘Unaccompanied Alien Children’ crossing the southern border. This raises serious questions.--Senate Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala

A leaked May 30 internal memo written by top Border Patrol official, Deputy Chief Ronald Vitiello, said: ‘Currently only three percent of apprehensions from countries other than Mexico are being repatriated to their countries of citizenship, which are predominantly located in Central America.’

new CNN Poll found that 61% of Americans disapprove of the administration's handling of illegal immigration. Only 35% said they approved of the President's handling of illegal immigration.

This country has an immigration problem, it's called Obama. According to Gallop and Rasmussen polls, Americans want our laws enforced and less legal immigration.

Until such time as we enforce the law and deport those who are here illegally we will continue to have groups claiming rights for trespassers.
The latest display at the border (children wrapped in tin foil blankets) take all the wind out of the "You're separating families," rant. It is clear that the separating of families is done by the illegal aliens themselves.
The people of the United States are being played for fools by our own politicians and the illegals themselves.
This nonsense has got to stop.

everyone should stay calm, treat these kids with respect, kindness and love and reunite them with their families back in their home countries

I just completely don't get HOW illegals should have any power in our country. I think this influx of sending innocent children in may backfire in their faces- if POTUS stands by his word to deport most of them. Maybe we should send millions of Americans down and take over Mexico if they want to be Americans so badly. And, all of Central America, as well. I would love to claim some lovely beach front property for Mexico to give me just because I demand it!

Nancy Pelosi went down there to welcome the illegals and tried to explain to the locals that they are all Americans. Pelosi needs help with her Geography. Being on the continents of the Americas, doesn't make you an automatic US citizen.

You bet, "stay calm". Lets just discuss this for the next 20 years. That's what La Raza wants. While politicians sit around on their hands discussing immigration reform week after week, month after month and year after year. More and more people enter this country illegally where it becomes our responsibility to take care of them. We need to be sending those people back to their country of origin with a bill for services with interest. Then again, that will not work because we've been funneling billions of dollars to those countries for decades any way. La Raza wants to fundamentally change this country to fit their idea of what it should be. At this rate and in 10 years we will be calling this country "The United States of Latin America".

"Stay calm" we do not want anyone, meaning illegals scammed. Well--it is OK to scam and steal from we the taxpaying American Citizens, but you are concerned, as usual regarding the bad effects to the illegals. Typical tunnel vision from La Raza.

California used to lean Republican. Thirty years of massive illegal immigration have resulted in California becoming a state with massive liberal majorities in both the state assembly and state senate and 100% of state wide office are Democrats. This has lead to insane laws allowing any child to use any bathroom they want. If a guy says he "feels" like a girl, he can go to the girls restroom.

California is facing financial collapse as a result of the profligate spending by these guys.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.” (Alexis Tocqueville)

America simply cannot continue down this path. If somebody dropped a baby off at my door step, sure I would take care of it. Drop off 500 and that is a different story.

We are being invaded. It's time to enforce our laws.

If I were to enter a country illegally would the government provide me with all the US provides? What is shocking to me is they break our laws and have the arrogance to demand we change our laws . Are you kidding.? I have the upmost respect for the people that have followed the law and have become citizens legally. Welcome welcome. They understand the value of law. Arrogance and being demanding is not helping the situation. It really upsets Americans. Americans are for changing the law if our boarders are closed and people follow the law. Without law there is chaos. Who wants people here that don't follow our laws?

My family immigrated to the US 18 years ago. We filled out all the right forms and paid all the fees, jumped through all the flaming hoops to come here legally. We worked hard, paid taxes, bought a house and raised our kids in US public education. 10 years later, we filed all the forms, paid all the fees, jumped through all the flaming hoops to gain citizenship. It can be done, people - the RIGHT way. I support legal immigration.

Sad for the refugee children. Give them some much needed humanitarian aide, and send them back home to Mom and Dad.

LaRaza should set up some kind of perpetual immigration fund like the church has for education where participants have to be screened as to their ability to contribute lawfully to this country's growth. If the illegals get a hand up into this country, with the financial assistance to come here legally then have to pay it forward (or back), the lawless ones may not flock here in droves.

"Tony Yapias...reminded community members that the president's authority to enact immigration reform without Congress is very limited..."

Mr. Obama doesn't think so.

We are blessed in this nation to have a president who will stand tall and speak to us like adults. Congress won't act, so I will. Everybody in this country knows that the first part of this statement is true and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves out of pure and sad ideology. We are honored to have a president who is brave enough to make the second part of the statement a reality.

I seem to remember the First Presidency urging us to always act with compassion. And I certainly cannot and would never dispute them.

I am also reminded that pushing someone down deliberately and then showing compassion is a bit on the cynical side. We need to treat these children with compassion, but we also need to make sure that we are not creating the problem in the first place.

The definition of insanity, continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results.

We must be insane, i.e., surrendering our money and responsibility to the federal government, continuing to buy into their promises, and then expecting them to control the border.

The problem here is speaking with La Raza at all. That organization is responsible for some of the worst riconquista nonsense out there which directly attacks the sovereignty of our nation and legitimacy of our borders. It is obvious that illegals, whose first act on entering the country is to violate the law of the land and often follow that up with fraud and theft by generating fraudulent identity papers and taking goods and services they are not entitled to including jobs. I do agree that calm should prevail, we should calmly pass laws requiring them to return home, preventing them from illegally working and for enforcement of our sovereign borders.

Re: "It's a humanitarian crisis . . . [t]hese children deserve what we can offer them at this time . . . a much better reception than a . . . refugee camp."

Huh?

So they deserve . . . what?

Respect? Sure. Sympathy? Sure. Charity? Sure. Food, clothing, roof over their heads? Sure.

But, they also deserve to be reunited with their own families, in their own homes, in their own nations and cultures, not to be kidnapped, robbed of their language, history, and culture, then integrated into white-bread, suburban America.

If illegals are, indeed, those best motivated to seek a better life for themselves and their families, America is robbing their home countries of those best able to make things better there.

To no higher purpose than Democrat electoral expedience.

If liberals really cared for the little guy, they'd support American Rule of Law. They'd support returning illegals to countries that need them. They'd send a clear message that Americans support freedom, democracy, and prosperity in any nation whose people long for them.

It's high time real Americans adopt Obama's tactic -- push liberal politicians aside and do what needs to be done.
