Some of the ZAP tax is given to "arts" entities that I do not approve of. Some of the ZAP money goes to is poorly spent. But some of it is spent wisely.

I would suggest that ZAP taxes in all Wasatch Front counties (Box Elder, Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, Tooele) be cut in half. That reduces the current 1% sales tax to 1/2 of 1% of sales tax. The other half of the Wasatch Front counties would commit the other 1/2 of 1% to fund UTA fares, providing that this additional 1/2 of 1% sales taxe would be used exclusively for UTA fares for buses, Trax and FrontRunner, with all fares being free. This sales tax would be in addition to the current sales tax going to UTA)

If their were no fares to ride UTA, I believe more people would ride, which would keep more vehicles off the road and give us less pollution (especially in winter). Splitting the 1% would continue to help the main stream ZAP users, and at the same time help clean up the air.
