Should be a fun game to watch.

Unfortunately, I think Texas will pull this one out, but BYU will absolutely have a chance.

They blew them out in 2013 and came very close on the road in 2011.

We can definitely compete with Texas.

This will be an interesting game. I don't think Texas will be caught flat-footed like last year (not saying they would have won had they not been, but anybody could see that they didn't take BYU seriously in that game until it was too late), but they have not been the team they once were for a few years now. On the other hand, BYU played their best game of the season against Texas last year, but I don't know if they can repeat it. I'm assuming the game is at Texas this year, so I'm going to go with the Longhorns by a touchdown.

This will be a fun game to watch and likely a very different Texas team than BYU saw last year.

I'm hoping BYU will be very different also and burn Texas in the air! Go Cougars!

I'm betting Texas is going to play BYU extremely tough this year. Although BYU definitely has a chance to win, Texas will not go easy on them. Unfortunately my gut tells me Texas wins this one, just like Stanford is going to beat Utah (teams like that don't like getting upset and want to take revenge).

I feel much more confident in the Cougars chances at Texas than I did a year ago for the last game. While I expect the game to be much more challenging I am hopeful the Cougar offense is much improved than they were last year. They did the bulk of the work on the ground. That sort of magic rarely happens twice.

The Boise game should be interesting as well. Glad it made the top-30 list.

Now this can't be true Mighty Ute with the toughest out of conference schedule didn't make the list. I thought they dropped BYU so they can play someone more interesting. This can't be true, someone immediately take this article down.

How I longed for Heaps to hit Apo on one of the long patterns in the 2nd half when the ball was over-thrown in Austin in 2011. Sitting in the stands I was just waiting to hear the moans from the wearers of burnt orange. Instead I heard it last year in Provo from a few that sat behind me. By halftime it had gotten old and luckily they left with about 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

Go Cougars!!

That's the same chance BYU stood last year, especially after the humiliation at Virginia.

I like the Y's chances.

A little history lesson:

2013 @BYU 40 Texas 21
2011 BYU 16 @Texas 17
1988 @BYU 47 Texas 6
1987 BYU 22 Texas 17

lil' BYU is 3-1 lifetime versus big ol' Texas

Reno, NV

Now, now. Let's be fair: Utah did make it into this week's media discussions of scheduling. Of course it was Pat Forde talking about how dismal Michigan's home schedule is.

I look forward to the game. I really like the first 3-4 weeks of the season when the non-conference matchups are in full swing. Last year's match up was a white wash; Texas got curb stomped.

I say Texas is an 8 point favorite at home in this game. Taysom has a serious risk of injury in this game.

'Just remember Y fans that UT has far greater talent'

It didn't show on the scoreboard!--For either football and basketball.

Don't under estimate Utah football.

If you look at BYUs recent history, it's good for the Cougs that they play Texas this season, but avoid Utah.

salt lake city, UT

This is the only BYU game I'll keep an eye on all year. The rest of their schedule puts me to sleep. Just what are they playing for year in and year out? Time to get back into a conference, any conference.

Chris B is soooo obsessed with BYU that he created another online identity so that he can spread more venom will posing as a Texas fan. U-PAC??? Come on Chris. You can be more original than that.

This could easily be the best game all year.

@ U-PAC:

It seems obvious that some people have more money than insight. I'm anxious to hear your excuses after this game is played and your wallet emptied. Won't be any sympathy.

If you admire Chris B's insights, then that completely proves you have very little yourself. Nothing personal intended.

When you say "mark it down", does that mean in the same way Chris B says to do so just before usually being proved wrong? Case in point, his last "mark-it-down" was when he emphatically promised a Ute NIT b-ball victory against a WCC opponent whom he said had no chance at all against the Utes... then got drubbed 71-39.

You sound a lot like he did.

@ 2020:

It's not BYU who is avoiding Utah. It's Utah who is breaking their contract and avoiding BYU. I give them credit for realizing their luck against the Y has run out. Their short string of single score victories was indicative.

@ FT:

Utah's series of more losses than wins keeps putting me to sleep. In fact, I won't be watching a single Ute game this next season. Not enough caffeine exists.

Why would Utah make the list of the Big 12's best nonconference games this year?

Oh I get it. In a blind jealous rage, you forgot to actually read the article before angrily pecking away at your keyboard.
