Glad the US won. Horrible passing game by both beckerman and bradley. They could have controlled the midfield so much better. Very poor game for possession and control. Johansen was hopeless as the fill-in for Altidore as well.

Hopefully we can put up a good showing against a very hungry Portugal team after getting drubbed by Germany.

Bradley was easily the best player on the field in the last World Cup warm-up match. What happened? He was missing passes that our grandmother's would make. I hope he shows up for the next match.

Beckerman played very well.

Agreed! Bradley was really off his game at times. We can definitely play better.

It was a very sloppy game and a gut wrencher. SOOOO glad we won.

Yep, nothing pretty about this match, but many predicted (including Klinsmann) it would be a rough grind it out game. Portugal is a better matchup for the US IMO. They don't attack constantly and put the kind of pressure on you that Ghana does. Bradley played the worst I've ever seen him play against Ghana. If he and Beckerman can improve their game and Dempsey recovers from his broken nose we stand a decent chance. Also Johanssen has to play better. Maybe now that he knows he might be starting against the Portuguese he will be more mentally prepared. Good luck USA!

I have to disagree on the passing game of Beckerman, he completed 85% of his passes, and that is actual stats, and he broke up a lot of plays on defense.

I am surprised the Des News didn't have a story on Beckerman. He played an awesome game of defense. The AP has close up shots of his game.

bigsoccer: He may have made 85% of his passes, but those passes were backwards to his defense or keeper. I have seen him play so much better at RSL and with the MNT. The times he advanced the ball, he frequently made very poor passes, poor timing and touch for a player of his and Bradleys quality. Defensively he was stellar though.
