Religion isn't the problem there or here. It's both.
10CCAgree with your sentiments entirely. Our nation seems to abhor
the policies of Islamic dominated governments. Yet, the fundamentalists of this
country (and this includes many of the opinions in the DN) would lead you to
believe that a religiously oriented government in this country would be a good
thing.I suppose that in the end we are all for freedom of religious
expression until it violates our views of religious expression. This seems to
me the very best argument for secular government that takes a complete hands off
approach to anyone's religion.
My sense is a lot of America would prefer *less* secularism and more religious
influence - including the D-News - but since this involves an entirely different
religion in a different part of the world those same religionists will probably
take a "pass" on commenting on this issue.
