Owen wants a path to citizenship for illegals.no chance of getting
my vote.I could stomach legal residency, but NOT citizenship - most
don't care about it, anyway. The headline really is misleading,
immigration will not be an issue in the race. Do you vote for Love, or do you
essentially vote for pelosi as speaker?
In the past Mia Love has not been a strong spokesperson for the GOP platform. It
clearly states that Republicans oppose amnesty because it rewards bad
behavior.Once you wander away from the platform you will find the RNC
pushing an amnesty plan.Locally, you'll find the Utah Compact crowd
and a strong recommendation from the LDS Church to provide a path to
legalization.Don't blame Mia Love for the lack of a clear message;
the GOP elites want amnesty; the base does not.
How come Mia Love is always against everything she has benefitted from? Immigration loopholes and student loans have put her in front of the line.Mia Love told this very newspaper that, because she was born before a
certain date, that her entire family was granted citizenship. That makes
MIA an "anchor baby", doesn't it? Of course, a little
research shows that she threw in a lie: although her birth meant her family
could stay in the US, it did NOT grant them citizenship. Last
election, we learned that Mia (against student loans) still owed $15 to $50,000
on her "performing arts" college degree loans.
"How come Mia Love is always against everything she has benefitted from?
Immigration loopholes and student loans have put her in front of the
line."If I let you stay as a guest at my house, does that give
you the right or oblige you to let several other people stay as guests at my
house?Yes, Mia Love and her family have benefitted from this country
allowing them to immigrate. That neither obliges her nor gives her the right to
tear the door off its hinges and let everyone else in.This country
has immigration laws. It has a very generous immigration policy, allowing in
well over 1 million legal immigrants each year. What Doug Owens wants isn't
a better immigration policy - he wants no immigration policy at all, and no
borders at all.
