What a depressing era for cougar fans. No national championships, no meaningful conference affiliations. What a knee-jerk reaction leaving the MWC. Good-bye Mr. Samuelson, your work here is done, enjoy your time back in the crimson club.

I don't think it was a knee jerk reaction.

The mwc is not a good conference, so its not like byu would be in a better place beating nobodies like Wyoming and New Mexico and UNLV. I do think independence is the better option for byu, but it is still funny knowing no big conference wants you and that byu is getting left in the dust as the big conferences are gaining even more power and are essentially forming our own division.

All non power conference teams will soon be division II, and power conferences division I

Maybe your new president can start calling the Big 12(with only 10 teams because they can't find any good teams to add) and beg for an invite.

Not a big fan of independence, but it beats being a whipping boy in the Pac-12.

I was there for those 3 wins over Utah, and they were all sweet music.

Mission accomplished, Secret Agent Samuelson. The destruction of BYU athletics is nearly complete. Well done.

@Ed Grady

Keep telling yourself that. By the way, how does it feel to be getting completely owned by a whipping boy in the PAC12?

I have to admit that getting beat in football by the worst football team in the Pac-12 isn't cool.

athletically, BYU is in a better position now than it was eleven years ago.

BYU athletics is not in a bad place at all. Men's volleyball had a fantastic season, the rugby team is always one of the top in the nation, and the basketball team made the big dance this year. The Cougars also have a football bowl agreement secured for next season in a great location. I don't know what others are complaining about-independence is fantastic! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedicated service Cecil.
