I remember byu getting exposed in that game. It was a perfect example of high athleticism from Marquette against the "athletes" from byu

"Mendenhall’s squad should be in every game it plays this year and may have an outside shot at earning a College Football Playoff berth."

Don't you just hate it when someone besides a "BYU homer" says something like that?

Not that I disagree with your assesment but this is a comment board in regards to basketball, not football.

@Chris B
Yeah I've never seen a 3 seed beat a 14 seed in the tournament before. You make a great point. (cue sarcasm) by the way, with the exception of this most recent season how did utah's athletes fair against BYU's "athletes"? Since 04-05 BYU 12 - 5 utah. Since 05-06 BYU 12 - 3 utah. But you've defeated my Trojans 3-2 since joining the PAC 10 so pat yourself on the back for that.

When you play a MWC schedule, you should be in every game. A typical MWC was two tough OOC teams, one or two cupcakes and the rest are in conference games. BYU should go 8-4 every single year.

Didn't Utah get "exposed" 58-70 in the NIT by a team that BYU swept 84-71 and 60-57.

#32 BYU(22-11) 7th NCAA in the last 9 seasons
#79 Utah(19-11) one NCAA in the last 9 seasons

Rose - 12-4 versus the Utes, including 7 of the last 8, 6 in dominating fashion:

61-42
104-79
72-59
82-69
71-51
63-50

----------------

It's laughable that a fan of a program that hasn't won an NCAA game in almost a decade would be mocking a program that's played in 7 of the last 8 NCAA tournaments.

Y Grad / Y Dad You can't seriously think that BYU has a chance to get into the college football playoff do you?

Why are several of the comments completely unrelated to the Carlino to Marquette article? Did I miss something?
Good luck to Matt. Hope it works out for him and it seems Marquette is in need of a starting PG so he should get the job he's looking for but lost at BYU. Sounds like a good fit.

Chris B, do you remember how those athletes from BYU did against Utah that year?

Tajemnica

Didn't read the article, did you?

IndeMak

I don't think 8-4 is what the author was saying, do you?

Jeremy234

What I think I did was quoted what someone else thinks. What do you think?

Athlon's assessment for the 2014 college football season:

BYU - "Mendenhall's squad should be in every game it plays this year and may have an outside shot at earning a College Football Playoff berth."

Utah - Not even projected to be in the mix - which includes USC, UCLA and ASU - for a PAC 12 South title.

-------------

Ranking of football coaches for 2014:

#41 Bronco Mendenhall
#51 Kyle Whittingham

Ranking of football programs for 2014:

#36 BYU has been one of the most consistent winners in college football over the past four decades... but it remains to be seen if the Cougars can become a national player as one of only four FBS independent schools.

#55 Utah had carved out a niche as one of the top non-BCS programs in the nation. The move to the Pac-12, however, changed the profile of the program. It’s uncertain if Utah can be a significant player in the Pac-12 on a consistent basis.
