Lets hope that what is left of the Powell family will see that Chuck and his wife gets everything they deserve! Cause I know the Cox family will spend every dime of that money trying to find her and bring her home and making sure there is never another victim like Susan and her boys!

This becomes more disgusting every day!

Cox may be using some gamesmanship, but it was his daughter who was presumably killed. Clearly he should stand to receive some form of (albeit) minimal compensation.

I support Chuck Cox completely. He is merely trying to deal with the situation as best he can. The Powell family, on the other hand, continues to show no mercy or remorse. I would hope that the court can look past the facade of legal technicalities in this case and make any and all awards to the Cox family.

Don't forget, one of the Powell sisters is firmly in the Cox's corner. Even she can see that her family is acting in a despicable manner.

"The Powells ... contend that the supplemental motion was simply filed by Cox to generate negative publicity toward them."

The Powells don't need anyone to generate negative publicity towards them. They are doing that well enough on their own.

Their son killed their grandchildren, the mother is missing and all they can do is say, "Show me the money."

Interesting conundrum for both families. In order to defeat the Cox family claim (and get the money), the Powell family has to allege that Josh Powell killed Susan Powell -- something that they have denied since this miserable business started. In order to defeat the Powell family claim (and get the money), the Cox family has to allege that Josh Powell did not kill Susan Powell and that, in fact, Susan survived Josh -- something that they have denied since this miserable business started. My feeling is simple -- a pox on both families. Have neither of them get the money. Let the money go to a worthy charity that has no connection, and no name association, with either family.

The Powell family doesn't need anyone's else to gain bad publicity or make them look bad. They are doing a dynamite job of that on their own.

If Powell killed her, her family should get all the money. If she is not dead, her family should get all the money. The fact that the Powells are even attempting to get anything as a result of their murdering relative is disgusting. Let's hope the Court uses common sense.

The Powell family know where their son and grandchildren are and what happened to them. It is extremely unfortunate that the Cox family can't have the same closure. Maybe getting the money would give the Cox family the resources to find their daughter and bring her home. If Josh's mom and sister say he killed her then the insurance money shouldn't go to him or his family because he committed a crime to get the money.

Boiled down, this is a case of either siding with the family of the killer, or with the family of the victims.

I will stand with the victims, and justice, not the killers and greed.

In which case, all are innocent. Or are the responsible for the "sins of the father" or in this case family members?

There are no winners here. It is a terrible tragedy; but to sweep aside the feelings and trials of the Powell family is cold and callous. Josh was never even charged, even after an investigation of several years. But even if had been, and convicted; that would still change nothing of the family's culpability.

I'm sorry, but --
It boils down the law and how the insurance policy is written.

How you "feel", or how you "think" is irreleveant.

The law is based on the facts and evidence, and is not ruled by emotions.

I'm very suprised that the insurance companies aren't fighting this to. Since neither of the principles and heirs are alive, no one should get anything. I'm saddend for the Cox's and their double loss of their daughter and grandsons. Powell's family shouldn't get a dime either. Their collective behavior, especially the Josh and his Dad has been particularly depsicable. If I was the insurance company, I'd not pay either family a dime.

The money should be returned to the insurance company.
