I accidentally discovered the park one Saturday when my daughter and I traveled from Missouri so she could take the ACT at Quincy High School. I had thought the Lincoln-Douglas debates had all taken place in Springfield, the state capitol and was happy to visit a place where Abraham Lincoln spoke. I was also pleased to discover a really nice farmers' market surrounding the park. Beside, the usual fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, flowers, herbs, etc. there were local specialities like muscadine grapes and hickory nuts. If you're coming to Nauvoo in the summer, a visit to Washington Park and its farmers' makes a nice side-trip.
