Except for Jennifer, the entire Powell family's behavior is despicable. They should be ashamed for trying to profit from Josh Powell's heinous crimes. Please give the money to the Coxes. It won't bring their precious family back, but if anyone is going to get the money, it should go to them.

I have a lot of admirration for the Cox family and Jennifer Graves. The Powell family seems to be going lower than low. What dispicable behavior. None of them should benefit financially, ever from this tragedy initiated by Josh.

If the Powells truly believe that Josh killed his wife Susan, then how can any Powell benefit from murder? I would think that the insurance company would have something to say about that.

I agree with all the posters above...

A man can't take out a policy and then kill people who are covered and you or your beneficiaries get the money. At the very least any policy for the boys or himself would not

If the insurance gives out any cash it should be to the owner of the home that blew up and for any therapy the social worker who brought the boys may need after what he did.

Maybe Josh outsmarted himself on this one.

The Powell family is one travesty after another. The money should go to preventing this from happening again, not to people who will multiply the travesties.

The only way to win in this is to agree on both sides that the money should be donated to a really worthy cause -- one to prevent domestic violence or the abuse of children. Kiss the money goodbye and honor the memory of those two little boys by doing something good.

The money should go to Susan's family. Their lives have been completely turned upside down. I'm certain that the years of searching for their daughter and battling her murderer for custody of their grandchildren, who he also murdered, also took a financial toll on their family.

The Cox Family should receive any money's paid out by the insurance company

@Mid West Mom

That would be assuming insurance companies have ethics.

I really hope the Coxes prevail in this. They are such victims. It would at least be something they could get out of this horrible tragedy. The Powell family are just perpetuating this.

Josh Powell and his father are the only victims this entire campaign has given to history.

We can thank government and the criminal law enforcmeent department in WVC now proven to have been less than honest and more than criminal in their actions for years prior to their attacks and harassment of Josh Powell and his children. The public and media and police perpetrated are the heinous criminals that drove a father out of tough love to defend his children from public hate.

Now some family step in and out of greed want to persecute a father in abstention for a crime that police nor evidence can prove he committed. Even if the family does win or prove any guilt the state will step in and confiscate all the money as retribution payment for gross neglegence cost trying to entrap a suspect. The case is still open in the city government and that makes all the assets of Susan Powell property of the state to impound it all indefinitely. Property rooms never retire nor do they have any regard for any owners until Mayors say owners can buy property back from the government entities.

Ah, it's a marvelous thing to contemplate a fine man like Josh Powell (and now his even finer family) standing up for the sanctity of marriage ... marriage between one man and one woman, until death do them part.

Beyond heartbreaking for the Cox family. They are such good people and so steadfast. My heart and prayers go out to them. Awful to have a lovely daughter marry into evil. Again, I have to say, ladies, when you realize you've married into evil, leave without discussing it with him. Hesitating puts you and your children in danger.

How about the insurance companies don't pay out at all? No one should benefit from this travesty. Not the Cox's and certainly not the Powell's. If Josh would have killed just himself but not his sons, then I'd be in favor of his sons benefitting. Since they lost their lives also, New York Life should keep the money.

@ jenkers
I agree. The Susan, Charlie, Braden playground, or a home for battered women and children .... the possibilities are endless.

@ K
You're right. Our tax dollars will pay for the social worker's therapy (sad) but who pays for the house that he blew up?

This is possibly off topic, but how did Josh Powell have resources to take care of himself when he left Utah and his job? Obviously he had money to rent a house, travel and maintain himself. There are so many missing pieces in the puzzle. I think the Coxes should receive any compensation available. Their expenses in trying to find truth have to be extraordinary. dotGone, I agree with your advice!

There has to be a special place in the fiery furnace for people like these.

What heartbreak news in this case. The heartache of their loss is enough for the Cox Family. They should not have to be put through this.
