This year we were good enough to play in the dance, our schedule just wasn't

We readily admitted that all season long.

From here on out it will be and no excuse for not dancing next year.

With the improvement we've seen, I'd say dancing is very likely.

Maybe next year the Pac 12 will get 7 teams instead of "only" 6 this year.

Nice to see the Utes getting some respect and attention on a national level. Go Utes!

I don't believe that the non-conference schedules have even been set, let alone played to give any indication of who is going to be where in the field NEXT YEAR. These types of articles are pointless. Must be a VERY slow sports day.

We will always be in the Dance since our program is legendary and we play in a tough conference.

Boy those grapes must have been pretty sour. Everyone knows these predictions are way to early to have much accuracy, but it does show that the Ute's program is getting some respect and recognition.

Go Utes!!

@Mormon Ute - It looks like you're choosing to be offended when no offense was intended. I can give you a pretty good quote from LDS general conference about what that says about the person who chose to be offended, if you would like.

CougarsunDevil mentions the out of conference schedules(plural) not being out yet with no specific mention to any one team. The article is about both byu and Utah. Even if he is referencing Chris' comment, CougarSunDevils comment clearly applies to any team. Only a Utah "fan" would try and turn his comment that was very tame and in no way directed at just Utah into an offense. Stop looking to be offended.

I predict that next year the Cougs and Utes will win some games, lose some games, and have a chance at making the tourney. How's that for expert analysis?

Herriman, UT

Their results against BYU and their conference proves Chris B's point.

So Lunardi is predicting the Pac-12 to be another 6-bid league, while the WCC is only cxpected to get 2 in. Again.

Yep. Sounds about right to me.

Can you remember the last time the WCC had 6 members in the dance? Or the last time they had 3 in the sweet 16?

Me either.

byu fans like to believe there is only a relatively small difference between the two leagues.

Truth is, the gap is huge.

Chris B and 2020,

How about you address the fact that when push came to shove U lost to the WCC, which you constantly mock. U deserve to dance when the committee sees relevance in your performance against real competition, which they didn't. "Good enough to dance"? not yet, as the mind blowing 39 pts showed in the PAC tourney.

Non conference was weak, at best, and middle of the Pac 12 puts you where you ended up; One and done in the NIT, having lost to an "inferior" conference.

I still love how certain ute fans hang their hat on being members of a so-called elite conference but so little emphasis on actually winning games and scheduling tough teams.
I doubt that the selection will be impressed with conference affiliation again next year but will rather look at actual performance based on SOS. Just a thought!!

Are you referencing that double digit loss utah had to a member of BYU's conference in the 1st round of the nit?

Cedar Hills, UT

The Utes will unveil their OOC schedule for next year in September. The games I do know are Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse and most likely byU in the Marriott center.

This Ute team has the opportunity to build on last year and do something really special. Good luck to both young men on their decisions.

Go Utes!

Utah is jealous of our storied tournament history.

We went .500 against wcc teams and byu went .250 against Pac 12 teams.

How about you address the fact when we played we wiped the floor with your team

Alpine, UT

Utah's results against #218 Washington State and #79 RPI ranking prove that Chris B is all hype, but no substance.

The Utes didn't even finish in the Top 68.

@ Down under "I still love how certain ute fans hang their hat on being members of a so-called elite conference but so little emphasis on actually winning games and scheduling tough teams"

You must be referring to Utah's .500 record against PAC12 teams vs. BYU's .250 record against said conference.

Salt Lake City, UT

He may have been referring to Utah's .500 record against WCC teams vs. BYU's .700 record against said conference.

Also BYU's road record against the PAC12 was .250 vs. Utah's road record of .000 vs the WCC.

Provo, UT

@ scott "The Utes didn't even finish in the Top 68"

It all depends on which sources you reference. According to Sagarin and the BPI Utah finished ahead of BYU and in the top 68.
