"Where have the American values gone?"

Nowhere, that where.

Had it been a junior high school play or a kids first pee wee baseball game, some would make the same argument. Lots of different opinions and value judgements.

You can not assign the views of some as representing "America".

ONE radio talk show host Boomer Esiason on some no-name radio WFAN said something about it.

and an old proverb says:

One point does not a trend make.

Boomer got ripped to streads by just about everybody for what he said,
he most likely ruined his career for it,
and has also apologized numberous times for it.

The only one still upset about it,
is this guy who thinks the Apocalypse is about to happen and thinks
the sum of all Family values just got shattered because of this one occurance.

BTW -- The Baseball UNION guarantees a minimum 3-day paternity leave.
If there was a problem - Mr. Murphy could sue and easily win.
Thank goodness for Unions.

Where have american values gone? Well, we worship pro, and even amateur, sports. On the other hand, we don't have universal health care or maternity leave for either parent. I think that sums up where our values are.

My company gives 2 weeks full paternity pay and then 90% for a couple of months if needed. Its nice to not be pressured into work as soon as the baby is born.

3 media people does nota nation make or even represent it. The NY Mets have said nothing and have supported Mr Murphy. Please Mr. West, pick an issue of importance that actually has tread.

IMO... Sports should not come before family.
Sports should not even come before Scouts or YM/YW.

It's entertainment... unless you're a professional athlete.
And even then it's not #1. It comes in exactly where every other father's profession comes... family comes before profession. Family is the reason for your profession (not your ego).
