Go Utes!

What a great talent. To bad he is being wasted with inept coaches. Eight months to freedom.

Poach Gary back,
Rethink your comment. The Utes defense has been top notch and has sent countless players to outstanding NFL careers since Kyle arrived at Utah.

So Ute fans, if the utie go 4-8 or 5-7 again and miss out on anther bowl game do you want whitt fired?

Or do you stick by him for another 3 years? how many missed bowls before whitt is on the hot seat? Will you be satisfied beating a middle to the middle top pac ten team each year? Not having BYU on the schedule to sooooooth the sting of a 5-7 season is going to stir the heat up?

Good article. I hope he plays at the next level. It would be interesting to see him try and play tight end. With his experience as a receiver and now at 6'4 255 he would be a beast. Not sure what his current 40 time is but he ran close to a 4.4-4.5 in high school.

What's the point of your question? You already have an answer in your head that you hope Utah fans will agree to, and if 99 out of 100 say keep Whittingham, and only 1 says fire him, you'd still glom onto the "1" Ute fan, and say it's how all Ute fans feel.

"Not having BYU on the schedule to sooooooth the sting of a 5-7 season is going to stir the heat up?"

From where I sit on my side of the series, it seems to me that the "sting" of Utah not playing the cougars is more heavily weighted on your side. And that's a pity too. Because if we choose to schedule another team instead of you, your SOS weakens, and you all will whine and complain. But if we DO decide to play you, then you all get all worked up about a lopsided series, only to despair after the game is over, and your big brother hangs another loss on your boys. And it's your "Super Bowl" no less.

It seems to me like it's a lose-lose scheduling nightmare for the cougs.

Wow! We've OWNED BYU so much that their own fan-base agrees that the rivalry game is a guarantee win for Utah.

@ Max was whatever;

Focusing on Utah being 5-7 is the right attack. It's a glaring target. I might be doing the same thing over there in the blue.

The return smack would be the bulk of head to head wins against BYU the last 20 years. As for trash talking, I tend to leave it there.

Yes I could go with the usual BCS stuff while the blue often plays the top 25 card. We could keep going with the endless comparisons year to year. If we go with specific years, Utah and BYU have had some some solid teams. Overall, I think it's relatively equal in recent history.

From the time Kyle and Bronco took over in 2005 until 2010 when the Utes went to the PAC 12 and BYU forged their independence, the overall records were dead even. Utah was actually one game up in that span. Obviously Bronco is well ahead now. But be honest, isn't that because the relative schedules are no longer comparable? Utah's schedule was last year, and will be again this year one of the top strength of schedules in the nation. While BYU's schedule is extremely weak (it is what it is guys).

All this byU jealousy smack takes away from the content of a good story about a great kid.

We will be rooting hard for Nate this season. We will also be rooting hard for him to make the NFL. Once a Ute, always a Ute.

Go Nate. Nice story DN. Kudos.

Go Utes!!

Since watching Nate take over a state HS football game at RES, to developing into the beast he is today, I am stoked for his potential not only as a Ute, but as an NFL star. The sky's the limit, Nate! Tear it up this year. Go Nate! Go Utes!
