    @KH

    In answer, I was shedding giant tears over Utah losses long before you were born. I was clearly stating my opinion that the apparent successes of both the football and basketball programs are largely due to their opponents taking them lightly due to "cupcake" scheduling. And that includes BYU who take the Utes too lightly. So don't try to downplay my comments by saying that they are the rantings of a BYU fan.

    Good luck to coach whit and the utes this season. Coach whit is a class act.

    @ Cletus "We will win all our teams and win the rose bowl again and beat byu again"

    Cletus, I'll bet you are actually very relieved BYU doesn't play Utah again in football in 14. Those match-ups with the Utes haven't worked too well for you guys lately.

    I know, I know, "one game does not a season make". But 9 of 12 signals outright domination.

    @brownderby "Now we see what happened when the U of Arizona Wildcats wanted to make a statement as selection time approached. Then we see what the Utes were really made of.

    Likewise brownderby, I guess we saw what BYU was made of when Utah handed the Cougars their worst loss of the season. Or are you now going to apply the "one game does not a season make" rule?

    Whatever line of reasoning you settle on:
    a. losing a game by double digits reveals what a team is truly made of, or
    b. one game does not a season make

    be sure to apply that rule to both Utah's blow out loss to U of A and BYU's blow out loss to Utah. You can't have it both ways brownderby.

    Big spring here.

    Wilson will obviously have the leg up going in to fall. It will be interesting to see how the freshmen have grown since last year.

    It appears that the Utes finally have the talent they need to develop the depth necessary for the Pac-12, the question is will that talent develop enough to fill in the holes, especially on the O-line and secondary.

    Looking forward to the reports.

    Go Utes.

    Finally, the Utes have a great bunch of young, potential QBs with which to work and develop. Glad that Dennis Erickson is coming back and that Brian Johnson now has a chance to prove himself in another venue. He will be an excellent HC someday, just needs about 7-8 more years of position coach experience and he will get there, perhaps back at Utah. Go Utes!

    "Why is anyone and everyone who isn't totally complimentary of the Ute program automatically considered a BYU fan? "

    Let's test it. Bronderby, are you a byu fan?

    Why is anyone and everyone who isn't totally complimentary of the Ute program automatically considered a BYU fan? Does that mean "real" Utah fans can't handle objective criticism? Considering where the program is right now (massive coaching changes confirm that) some objective observations, even if construed as criticism, are warranted.

    This is a do-or-die year for the current coaching staff. The natives are truly becoming restless.

    @Brownderby

    Simply counter by bragging about your victory in the Kraft I'm Hungy Bowl!

    By the way, who was "chest thumping" about the Sugar Bowl? Do tell.

    "Always such a lot of chest thumping about the Sugar Bowl. It is reminiscent of Utah basketball this year. In both cases, the opposing teams really had no reason to worry about the Utes so came into the games woefully unprepared and uninspired. Now we see what happened when the U of Arizona Wildcats wanted to make a statement as selection time approached. Then we see what the Utes were really made of. And lately we have seen what the Football Utes are really made of when the Pac 12ers jockey for position. Not much."

    You're obviously a byu fan. If the Utes are not made of much, as you suggest, then what is byu made of? Utah blew them out in basketball and have beaten them 4 years in a row in football. I love hearing that byu fans don't think Utah is very good, because as bad as they think Utah is, they know deep down that byu is worse.

    Here's to breaking .500. woohoo. There's a conspiracy in the NCAA. Utah should get into a bowl game because they are in the Pac10.

    Coach Whitt has the same situation and opportunity that Urban had when he came to Utah. The Utes have been underachievers for several years now. There is talent athleticism and speed in the cupboard, "is the coaching staff up to the challenge"? Can this be a break out year for the Utes? Here's to hoping they are and can bring the Utes into another bowl game this year.

    GO UTES!

    IMO Wilson should not be getting the reps in Spring since he's still not medically cleared to play in Fall. Why not get Manning the reps and red-shirt Wilson this year?

    I really hope Utah turns the corner this year. I'm also not sure if Wilson is the answer at QB. If Utah doesn't get to a bowl, it's time to let Whittingham go. I never thought I would say that after the Sugar Bowl; but after 2 years in the PAC 12; it's time to get the program back on track.

    Go Utah!

    As the growth continues, this year's Utes have some serious speed. It will be fun to watch how the coaches utilize that asset. Refining the offense begins now!

    Argo:

    Every QB will make mistakes. The best long term solution for Utah right now is to have the same QB for a whole season or even multiple seasons. Utah does not need to have a Heisman candidate we just need to have a stable, consistent, tough guy to lead the team through the whole season.

    GO UTES!

    Looks like the trolls are out in force this morning.

    Coming from a real Utah fan, I am really looking forward to spring ball. It's a great chance to see how the new guys are developing. Can't wait to see what Paul, Booker, Barton etc. can do. Really wish Thompson would be around this spring to show his wares. It's good that TW can participate this spring, but I don't know if he's the long term answer. Yes, he has tenacity and grit, but made a lot of questionable decisions last year even when healthy. I'm sure the coaches will figure it out though.

    Go Utes!
