It is a tragic fact that our society assumes that only women can raise children effectively. Men and fathers are equally capable (and vital) in a child's life, and especially during the adolescent years as children, both boys and girls, look to their father for a role model.

The disservice that is done to men and their children during divorce is nothing more than gender discrimination, and I look forward to the day when our society and lawmakers recognize the importance of fathers.
