This letter is absolutely correct. The modern public is in the midst of a sugar epidemic that is destroying American health.

It is distressing to see just how many have embraced gluttony as a positive value. Indeed, much of the public actually seeks after sugar consumption as if it were the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Under this gluttonous view, one can never stuff enough sugar-based candy and soft drinks into one's mouth.

Sadly, the federal government has encouraged this epidemic of obesity and sugar addiction. The widespread use of entitlement programs has led to a lazy and slothful population that would rather sit around stuffing its collective gullet than it would like to work and be productive. That is why participating in the right caucus is so important for those who truly care about the future of society.

JCS is almost partially correct. The real root of the problem in 21st century America is needing instantaneous gratification, being incredibly self-absorbed, and having minimal if any common sense/deductive reasoning skills.

Needs and wants has been turn up side down. The body needs. The thinking me wants. Ya can't always get what you want as the Rolling Stones song goes. But you'll get what ya need.

The Human Body was design for a high startch / protein / carbohydrate diet.

The body manufactures sugars from starches found in other foods sources,
yet
in the last 100 years camponies have added processed sugar at higher and higher rates.

And now we wonder why we "suddenly" have an epidemic of children with ADAD, ADD, overweight and adults dying prematurely from obesiety and Diabetes.

Companies seek profits,
Compnaies sweeten everything to sell more of their products,
and other Companies make more profits selling drugs to counter the ill effects of those products.

It's all about profits.

Read Section 89 of the D&C, the Word of Wisdom,
it's given as a warning about conspiring men, seeking profits, and inflicting poor health -- not just about coffee, tea, and tobacco.

let me understand this....

Sugar is addictive, causes diabetes, contibutes to heart diesease, ADD/ADHD, and obesity, etc -- OK,
Hemp Oil for children dying from epileptic seizrues hos NOT be OK.

Yep, this is what's wrong.

I just read the label on a can of Similac formula for babies. Sugar is the first ingredient followed by corn syrup. Where is Michelle Obama when we need her? Talk about setting up children from day one for hyperactivity.

FYI - Sal,

Feb, 2011
First lady Michelle Obama supports mothers to breast-feed their babies, because "kids who are breast-fed longer have a lower tendency to be obese."

Within days, Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.) blasted the Obama.
former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, mockingly said the first lady was trying to compensate for high milk prices.

Another Right-Wing Red Herring at spinning the truth.
Talk about setting up out right lies to make your political points.

?
What?
Are you serious?
Where did that come from, I never said all Mother's could or shoudl nurse.

You made up a lied about the First Lady to make a statement,
I called you on it and provided evidence to prove you were wrong,
and rather than apologize for,
you come back with yet another mis-truth half-speak?

All I can say is that to be that blind to truth and reality, to make stuff up to score political points,
that level of hatred toward the President and his Wife is astounding.

Wow, LDS liberal, such harshness. My comments were just that, comments. No anger towards Michelle Obama. We just need help in all areas that contribute to obesity and poor health, starting with babies and their formula. Calm down.

RFLASH
Salt Lake City, UT

Sugar tastes good! You don't realize how addicted you are until you have to face it! I am 48 years old. A couple of years back I went to the emergency room. I felt so sick, but I didn't know why. I ended up in ICU and was diagnosed with type one diabetes. It is rare that an adult gets it, but I had to be one of the lucky ones. My body doesn't make insulin anymore and now I know I will pay for every little bit osf sugar that I put in my mouth. You know something is an addiction when you can't stop even though it is hurting you! It has been so hard! I need to stop smoking also. We are blessed too much! We have about anything we want and it is killing some of us! Time to set some more goals
