I was impressive, the amount of water, it went over the freeway between Provo and Springvile The Great Salt lake rose higher than the Bolder in the lake in Toole. The pumps was never built at the time for the Great salt lake and has never been used.

It worries me to see whole subdivisions built in the Provo/Orem area where in 1983 there was water all the way to the freeway.

The Emerald mile is a great book about the "high" water year. and ipr is right there are subdivisions where there were once ducks!

@George - just a correction, if you were saying the pumps on the Salt Lake were never operated - they actually were. I went out there when they were just starting them and understand they were run for a year and a half or so. Back to the story - the book sounds fascinating. I saw someone reading it in the airport yesterday and now that I know what it's about will get myself a copy. Thanks for the story
