Great to hear such positive reports on the D-line. Sure hope we have equally
great reports on the O-line.
Chris B.,That was a good win for BYU. It was almost as good as
Utah's win over Colorado the same year. Oh, wait Utah lost that game. I
mean it was as good as Utah's bowl game win. Oops, that doesn't work
It would be so fun to have a dominant D-line to compliment the ever-productive
linebackers. Kaufusi will wreak havoc in passing lanes and in QB grills at LB
with his length and speed. I will be anxious to see the progress of this
Irony = a Ute fan in Las Vegas at the prestigious PAC-12 Basketball tournament
with her team poised and positioned to break back into the realm of basketball
'relevance' after years of wallowing in embarrassing mediocrity - and
what is she doing??? Commenting on her regular obsession that is all things BYU.
Nice. We wouldn't expect anything different from her.
Total power conference teams on byu's schedule: 3LOLTexas(good)Virginia(didn't beat a single division 1 team other than
byu last year)Cal(dead last in pac 12 since 10th place pac 12 team is too
hard and byu can't beat them)a 2 loss pac 12 or SEC team would
get the nod over byu in a playoff spot with that schedule
Love to hear a similar report on the O-line. That's where we really need
to the RM's to shine.
Chris:Who cares how many power conference teams are on the schedule? Utah
did nothing for BYUs schedule last year just like UVA & Cal will do nothing
for them this year. It's the 7 bowl game teams BYU is playing that will
matter (including UCF who won a BCS bowl game...I mean aren't ute fans
always trying to tell us how special they are for winning a BCS bowl?).
It's obvious you're still under the delusion that power conference
equates to a good team, when an example of such faulty thinking exists right on
the hill with your beloved utes that will never win another conference
championship as long as the PAC12 still exists with them in it.
They are all 100% pure aweseom.
Cougsndwags,Bronco's goal is to win national titles right? You're denying reality if you think even running the table(LOL you
wont) with that schedule would put byu ahead of a power conference SEC or Pac 12
with even 2 losses in the playoffs.
Chris (and all your screen names):First of all, the 2014 schedule
isn't indicative of future SOS in following years for BYU. Second of all,
the computer rankings (which will be used still from my understanding by the
committee in determining the four playoff participants) use the quality of your
opponent based on what your opponent has done, not on whether they are a power
conference team or not. Houston, UCF, Boise St, Utah St, will all still be high
quality opponents even without their stickers, banners, and patches telling
everyone they're a power conference team.Btw, real power
conference teams don't brag about their conference, they brag about their
program. You don't see Bama fans or Michigan fans, or Florida, Georgia,
USC, Oregon fans all hoppin and hollerin about being SEC, or B1G, or PAC12
programs. I have yet to see SEC banners, stickers, or flags very much as
I've walked into Samford stadium to watch my dawgs. Just goes to show who
is there to compete, and who's just glad to be there. I've never seen
so many conference logos and flags surrounding a program as much as Utah.
cougndawgs,You don't think SEC fans brag about their
conference?Do you ever watch football?Chants of "SEC
SEC" are heard whenever an SEC team is beating an out of conference team in
the early part of the season or in bowl gamesLike I said, a 2 loss
Pac 12 or SEC team would be taken over a perfect Quest(LOL) byu team with that
scheduleAny rational fan knows that.So you're not
fighting for a conference title next year(since no big conference wants you)And you're not fighting for a national titleGood luck
on your quest. It was fun when we got to end your quest. We would have ended
it last year too but Virginia beat us to it.LOL
Actually, Chris et al, I live in PAC whatever country, never seen a PAC sticker,
never heard a PAC chant.Lots of "Cougar on board, Husky in
trunk" stickers. So, just for your discussion, because I am
certainly not saying BYU will run the table next year (although they could...),
but if 1984 repeats itself, ie undefeated, all the right teams lose at just the
right times, why yes, I could see it happening. If BYU ended the
season ranked in the top 4 (I know, with this schedule AND no pre-season
ranking, it won't happen...but if it did), I don't see a lower ranked
SEC team leap-frogging into the playoff. No idea what the playoff formula will
be, but I just don't see it.
Chris:Lol is right...here comes the "we" again. You are not part
of Utah's football or athletic program, you aren't even a reporter, so
stop saying we, it just makes you seem like one of those people who's very
existence depends on how their team does on Saturday.Second, I said
"real power conference teams", not every team in the conference. YOU are
going to talk to me about SEC football? Have you even been to an SEC football
game or at an SEC venue for any sport? Bama fans don't chant SEC. Georgia
fans don't chant SEC, Florida fans don't chant SEC. Maybe lower
echelon teams like U do but not the big dogs.I never argued that BYU
would get in on next years schedule, I only said that computers will determine
that at the end of the season when we have all the facts, not just your world
renowned ability at prognostication.I also hate to hammer u on
reality but trust me when I say that U won't be fighting for a conference
title or national title next year either. "LOL"
and seeing as I freely admit that this is highly unlikely, we may never know. But take UCF.Good season, good bowl victory, if THEY run the
table, they could well end up ranked 4th or better, and if so,I could easily see
them playing in the playoff while a two loss PAC or SEC team sits on the outside
looking in and wondering how in the name of blue blood big money college
football that happened.
