I want to thank Rep. Patrice Arent, D-Millcreek. She seemed to be the voice of
sanity against yet another perceived, but not real problem. She has my vote
again as a reasonable person with an educated head on her shoulders. Thanks for
being sane in the midst of the insanity of the legislature. We hardly need
another level of bureaucracy.
Typical Utah Politics, The Utah State Legislature, when there is a
shortage of funds the first place they look to cutis Education. Well I
would think that the State Board of Education would gladly accept any help it
can get without The legislatures oversight.
Just another effort by the Utah legislature to intrude into local school
district business. If you look at this session the majority of the bills
dealing in with education are an intrusion into what local school districts do.
If the legislature wants to micromanage education in Utah and continue to take
away local autonomy (which the do) then lets do what Hawaii has done and have a
single school district. It would make their micromanagement much easier. The other part of this bill, is that the bills sponsor clearly does not
have a clue about the amount of money coming to local districts from the federal
government. There are literally thousands of different grants available. How
does he expect the state office of education to track those for all 41
districts? Oh and who determines what grants are unacceptable? Funny that
republicans complain about bureaucracy all the time and yet this law will
require the state office to add personal to track this information, and will
require districts to spend additional hours that reporting this information.
Simply a stupid bill to chase an imagined boogy man in the closet.
Federal intrusion? If they want to give us money, let them give us money!!This is insane.
