Loveridge disappears in another big game on the road.
I said we would finish between 4 and 6th in the PAC 12 before the season. I was right on with that guessAnd the doubters said we would
be 12th. Now lets go win the tournament
U can't rebound. LOL Stanford has a 15-3 advantage on offensive ebounds.
Well things are back to normal on the hill.
another L mark it down
Offensive rebounding kills the utes on the road. They improve their road record
to 4-31 in 4 years in the pac 11.1. At least we have UVU and BYU to represent
the state.Wright lays an egg on national tv.
Open up cold and finish the same way. NO TOURNEY FOR u. The worst preseason
schedule and all at home was their undoing. Someone forgot to tell Chris Hill
and CK that half of the conference games are on the road.
Thanks CB for the prediction ...again. Utes lose again on the road.
At least BYU can beat Stanford...
Utah is now 10-1 when 4 or more players score in double digits.Turnovers and 2nd chance points resulted in a lose in a winnable game on the
Just like BYU football, Utah basketball was 28 points from an undefeated season.
Arrrrrgggghhhhhh! Another blown opportunity to get off a potential game winning
shot.Gotta give the team props for coming back from 11 down late in
the 2nd half but it so disappointing to keep losing games this way.
How is this possilbe? CB promised us a u win! LOL again and again.
SportsFanOrem, UTLoveridge disappears in another big game on
the road.-------------Yes. But we still have enough
depth to compete, not enough depth to win. That's where I think Chapman
will come in next year.
Chock up another moral victory for the Utes.-------------CBOnly under the crimson bubble is 8th considered finishing
between 4th and 6th.
Bummer,Let's get ready for the tourney. This team is playing
well, and peaking at the right time, so let's hope they can rise to
occasion and make a deep run.
CB,U won't even finish 6th. Wrong again. Only teams with a better
than .500 conference record will be in the 4-6 spots. U will finiah 8th or 9th.
Nice try though.
Wow, what a game. Tough to lose these heart breakers but this team will mature
from the experience they gained through the season. Next up, the Pac-12
tournament and the Utes are ready to get after it. Let's get
it done, UTAH!!
Stanford was horrible - begging the Utes to win this game by missing 7 or 8 free
throws down the stretch. The Utes just didn't have what it takes to accept
Utah is currently in 8th place with the result of other Pac 12 games pending,
one of which could move them up 1 spot. If Cal loses to Colorado, they will move
up to 7th, as Utah has the tie breaker over Cal, having won their only match up.
Oregon could also end 9-9 in conference play if they lose to Arizona (which is
likely), but Oregon has the tie breaker over Utah, having won the only
head-to-head matchup. So the best Utah could finish is 7th, which is not between
4th and 6th place. Close, but not quite. Still better than 12th though, which I
didn't predict. I predicted they would finish in the bottom half of the
Conference. And I was right. I do think they will win their first game, and earn
the right to play the number 1 or 2 seed (depending on if they finish 7th or
8th). I don't think that 2nd round game will go so well for them though.
@But seriously folks!Wright lays an egg on national tv?Wright: 12 Pts, 8 Reb, 6 Ast, 2 StlHe was the top performer in the
game. Take your time to come up with something new.
Another winnable games gets away. Stanford isn't that good either. Utah
lost this game on the defensive boards. They couldn't box out Stanford.
Hopefully they will represent in the PAC 12 tourney. I'm still ok woth this
team and this season. The NIT isn't the worst thing in the world
@Ute Buster...Absolutely incorrect like 99.99% of your posts. The Utes can be #6
in The PAC 12 Tourney. Could you imagine their record if they played in a mid
major conference such as The WCC rather a prestigious power conference such as
The PAC 12. Yes. YBU beat Stanford earlier this season I'm aware and just
look how excited yourself and the rest of you YBU fans still are about it. You
see my friend The Utes play games like your Stanford game weekly. The Utes
having to beat L.M.U. Portland, Pepperdine, San Diego, St. Mary's or
Gonzaga all played in glorified high school gymnasiums to receive an automatic
NCAA berth. Please my friend.
@Chris B...Once again please stop with the absolute ridiculous predictions. When
will you learn? Zip it until the game is over!
Downunderdid Utah hit 20 wins?
Read it here u will be one and done in PAC tournament as there won't be any
high schools playing. Oh and didn't they schedule outside of slc? What a
DownunderI believe you said that there was no way that Utah would
get 20 wins, and yet they did. You are well versed in incorrect predictions.
Tough loss again. I try not to pop off too much when we loose by 17 (BYU).
Loveridge really has gone missing. I'm amazed how competitive Utes are
again w/o Loveridge and Wright showing up. Great job coaching staff. This Ute
finds better things to relish than tough BYU losses. Go Utes!
Utah gave Stanford everything they could handle. Good luck in your tournament.
If you play ASU, you'll understand that I hope you lose. Otherwise, good
luck. Of course if you do play ASU, you probably won't need
luck since ASU has stunk over the last four games.
How sad are these Cougar fans who can't find anything better to do than
comment on Utah articles that mean absolutely nothing to them? I guess then all
I have to say is Scoreboard Cougs.
Stanford is probably the caliber of St. Marys.Utes have shown
Utelogy, bes players in the state win games on the road. Collingsworth
doubled wright in points and rebounds. 12 points from your best player is a big
goose egg no matter how you look at it.Pocy, utah would not have made it
to 20 wins without the 350th occ schedule. 9 of their wins were against
elementary and Jr. high teams. BYU was the only credible win in the first 10 so
don't get to high on yourself. The NCAA will reward u with some extra
off-season relaxation on the sofa watching BYU and UVU in the NCAA's. How
does it feel to be the 4th best program in the state?
We will still be going dancing because we are darn good and we are planning on
thee same.Onward and upward to pac 12 and march madness glory after
we win the tornement!Go Utes!
Watching the pac games today I can honestly say that the pac is definately NOT
the conference they think they are. They are middle of the pack at best and
maybe 5th or 6th best conference in the ncaa.
Utes finish 8th in an average conference. The pac is way overrated. They will
not get any love from the ncaa selction committee due their stellar occ
I don't really care either way about the utes. I just come on here to see
what kind of crazy prediction CB has made for the game. Pure entertainment4-6 in the Pac 12? LOL!
Looking at all the comments, once again our sad little brothers from Utah County
account for the majority of the posts. I understand, you were left behind and
this is how you deal with it.If byu played in the PAC-12, they would
have battled USC and WSU for the bottom of the conference. Fortunately for the
cougars, they play in the WCC and only played against five major conference
opponent this season. While there are no long, athletic teams in the WCC, if
the cougars get into the big dance, they will surely run into athletic teams
that play defense and the results will probably be like the game in SLC.Ute buster says the PAC-12 is "way overrated" yet the 8th place
team destroyed his favorite WCC team. I'm still confused why so many cougar
fans/anti Utah fans continue to post on Utah articles while our MWC team and Big
Sky teams don't. Being left behind must really hurt.Go Utes!
Ute buster should forced to drop Ute from his name and pick up some more
Cougarish. Once again I myself would have loved nothing more than to see BYU in
the PAC 12. Being LDS myself, the seemingly negative attitude towards BYU from
the conference frustrates me. BYU 's overall sports program has so much to
offer. However, this bagging on the Utes who have had a rough go for the past
number of years in a year with so many great accomplishments, is childish.
Letting your frustration in having no conference shown by your ignorant comments
about the PAC 12 is pathetic. BYU is having a decent season, why can't you
focus on that? Just let it go... I'm sure you're going to find a good
home in time.
@Down underUtelogy, bes players in the state win games on the
road. Collingsworth doubled wright in points and rebounds. 12 points from your
best player is a big goose egg no matter how you look at it.-------------Wright accounted for about 40% of Utah's offense
today against a tournament team on the road.Collingsworth accounted
for 31% of BYU's offense today against one of the worst teams in the West
at a neutral floor.Best players in the state end up in the NBA.
We'll see which player is in the NBA and which player ends up in Europe.
BYU plays in the WCC Utah plays in the PAC-12 that is all that really needs to
be said. Utah would dominate the WCC...again Utah plays in the PAC-12 BYU in
the WCC that is the end of conversation. Go Utes :)
The PAC 12 is ranked 4th per the sagarin rankings. It appears that some of the
haters struggle with what makes a good conference.
Somehow we beat BYU and we are still the 4th best team in the state. Hmm.
"Now lets go win the tournament." Based on what? Today the
U looked and played like the LMU Lions, except the real Lions rebounded
better.Let's run it down:BYU beats Stanford at
Stanford. Utes not so close in losing to Stanford at Stanford. Stanford
appeared to try and give the game away! You'll remember that the Trees
missed 5 of 6 (or was it 7 of 8) free throws in the final three minutes).Cal and Oregon won so just how is it that the Utes will be in the mix
for a 4th or 6th seeding of the tourney?As a Californian (and
Bruin), I don't think the Utes helped themselves in the "best team in

Utah get Washington in the opening round, then, if they win, Arizona. I think
Utah is done NLT the second round. Good season this year. Something to build on.
DownyJust admit it, your claims are all they are cracked up to be.
17 points put BYU somewhat lower than 4. My guess is BYU will be
watching Utah make a deep run into the NIT after Rose and Co. make their usual 1
and done, if they even make the Big Dance.Go Utes!!
UPAC12,Utah would dominate the WCC? Really? BYU has dominated u for the
last 10 years and took down Stanford, something that u could not do. And you
think you would dominate Gonzaga? Please define the meaning of dominate. Maybe
it is a 4-31 conference road record. I get it now.
To all u fans: News break......one win against BYU does not make u the the best
team in the state. Using that logic then Oregon would be the best team in the
pac since they beat Arizona today.Interesting logic!!Spokane
Ute,But CB told us that the pac is 2nd best just last week. If such were
rtue then the conference is dropping quickly in stature. FYI, There is only one
pac team in the top 25 and they lost today to an unranked team
DownYour claim that the Pac is 5th or 6th at best is about as
accurate as your claim that Utah would hit 20 wins.
CB"I said we would finish between 4 and 6th in the PAC 12 before
the season..."And, as usual, you were wrong... the Utes finished
tied with Washington for 8th, only one game ahead of 10th place Oregon St.
pocyUte"My guess is BYU will be watching Utah make a deep run
into the NIT after Rose and Co. make their usual 1 and done, if they even make
the Big Dance."So what you're really saying is BYU's
run to the NIT semi finals last season was more impressive than being invited to
the NCAA?btw, unlike Utah, which hasn't won a single NCAA
tournament game in almost a decade, BYU hasn't been one and done in the
tournament since 2009, the one and only season the Utes even made the tournament
during the Dave Rose era, before the Utes got embarrassed in their 1st round
playing 500 ball in conference is a big improvement from recent years, but the
final possession of close losses (closing seconds) in a handful of games,
coupled with the overtime defeats have put Utah in a position where they have to
come up big in the conference tourney to go dancing. If this year
ends up being a stepping stone to continued improvement for the program in the
years to come, then Utah is on the winning track. But if losses no matter how
close become a pattern of losing, then it's gloom and doom. I don't
see the latter as true, but only time will tell.
The Utes would have a great basketball record if the last five minutes of there
games they did not play like a junior high team, its like they forgot basket
ball and make real horrible decisions. UNBELIVABLE!
Comparing the WCC to the Pac 12 is laughable in any sport. It's 5A vs. 2A.
There are 10 teams in the Pac 12 that could win the WCC tourney and would leave
with 25 wins with BYU's tough schedule. Any true cougar fan would trade
places with Utah in a heartbeat. USU plays in a tougher conference than BYU.
Though we aren't at the level of the the best Pac 12 teams, Utah is
widening the gap in the most important sports. Now that Utah hoops is back, the
gap will get bigger and bigger.
I have nothing but anticipation for next year. Before the season started I
would have gladly taken a spot in the NIT This team is growing. With growth
comes inconsistancy. The pieces are there, they have the right coach. Once
experience takes over they will bring Utah Basketball back on a higher level.
The league it the toughest they have ever played in. We are being noticed again.
Teams are keying on our best players. Loveridge for example. I'm just
saying go Utes and let's make a splash in the tournament.

Holy smokes, about a quarter of all the comments from one person changing screen
names every thirty seconds. Kinda speaks for itself. The Utes will be fine, much
to his/her chagrin.
PhoenixPlease don't put words in my mouth.Of course
it's better to make the NCAA. What I'm saying is that I think BYU is
one and done, which is very common for them, and I think Utah is going to the
NIT, but they will do quite well in it.I would much rather Utah made
it to the big dance, I just don't think they will without a finals run in
the Pac-12 tourney and that is a tall order.Either way, I'm
ecstatic that they are a lock for the post season at all. When the season began
I felt the CBI would be a successful season, the NIT would a huge success, and
the NCAA tourney a pipe dream. The fact that they are even in bubble discussion
is amazing and a testament to the work of the staff and the team.Hope that clears it up for you.Go Utes!!
Okay okay, enough with the nonsensical statements people. If Utah was in the WCC
they wouldn't be winning it but would probably be top 3 or at least top 4.
If BYU was in the PAC they wouldn't be fighting with Wazzu and USC,
they'd be in the giant cluster that spans from 3rd to 10th.

prospect, Haws and Collinsworth are Spanish league prospects.Speaking of "on the same court on the same court versus the same team"
argument, Utah enjoyed a 81-64 thumping of BYU.
@Old But Not StupidLet's run it down:BYU beats
Stanford at Stanford. Utes not so close in losing to Stanford at Stanford.
Stanford appeared to try and give the game away! You'll remember that the
Trees missed 5 of 6 (or was it 7 of 8) free throws in the final three
minutes).-------------So then I am assuming that you
would also agree that Utah gave the game to Arizona at the HC? We
also missed free throws down the stretch against UofA. Actually, if Loveridge
had made his second free throw with 20 secs left in regulation we would have
won.Reason Stanford won was because we came out flat, they killed us
on the boards and we played sloppy (13 TOs in first half). Second half Coach K
made adjustments and we played better, just not good enough to win.
"BYU beats Stanford at Stanford. Utes not so close in losing to Stanford at
Stanford."Old:Hah nice try--like that whole 81-64
thing never happened!
"What I'm saying is that I think BYU is one and done, which is very
common for them,..."How is one-and-done common for BYU? BYU as
won at least one game in each of the last three NCAA tournaments they've
played in - 2010, 2011, and 2012 - and they advanced to the NIT semi-finals last
year, winning three games.Meanwhile, the Utes are literally
one-and-done in the NCAA since 2005.
The Utes need a better strategy when teams double Wright. He held on to the
ball too long at the end and it cost them. Nobody can be happy with
8th and there are no moral victories, but the program has good talent and has
improved every year since joining the PAC 12. This team needs to hit
the weight room and get a lot tougher physically and especially boxing out.
Offensive rebounds killed us in several key close games this year. Better free
throw shooting and rebounding advantage need to be a big focus to take another
step forward.BYU fans who are mocking Utah and celebrating WCC
mediocrity are truly comical. BYU was expected to be very good at the start of
the season and by any measure have underachieved in an extremely weak
conference. Utah by any measure has overachieved in a very difficult
conference. Looking forward to the PAC 12 tournament. Go Utes!
So let me get this straight - Utah lost to a team that plays in a
high-school-like gym, that BYU beat in the high-school-like gym. Did I miss

and leave the Utah articles for Utes fans?Funny you ask that
question while posting on a U of U article.Go Utes! Please keep us
fans in Vegas watching Utes games through Saturday.
y fans always come out and criticize the Utes, no matter what they do...we beat
them this year in BB, and last year in FB, but where would they have finished in
the PAC12, in either BB or FB? Most likely 10th in both, but they will never
know, will they, "y?" Because they don't play in the PAC 12. IMO,
Utah ends up in the Championship game against against Arizona. And they win.
Period. Period. When you say "period," it means it is really going to
happen...at least that's what it meant up until last year, as I recall.
