"[Hughes said] Stericycle arrived at its current location in 1988, built their facility in a remote part of North Salt Lake," he said. "They enjoyed some anonymity in that spot until we saw some residents move close by."

This sounds like Stericycle moved into the boonies. In fact it was constructed hard by North Salt Lake's industrial park. There was wide-ranging opposition to Stericycle's facility; some firms in the industrial park opposed it, and many residents opposed it. I was one of them.

I've always wondered just how Stericycle won the approval of North Salt Lake. I suspect some palms were greased, such is the life of a small town in Utah.

I've been told that burning it is old technology, and there are better ways to get rid of it. I guess burning must be cheaper.

Tooele County Needs a Voice
Tooele County, UT

Tooele County Elected officials didn't even inform residents. It's location is too close to Tooele County and the Wasatch Front. Nerve agent was under extremely strict regulations. This will be self reported if there is violations and they are already being investigated for that. Homes around the current location have initial findings of high dioxins. Dioxins can travel up to 300 miles. But elected officials believe 20 give or take a few miles north west of Grantsville is ok. Thanks for listening to business instead of your constituents elected officials.
