Granite Flats has a lot of great things going for... except that the writing is
missing something, imo.I found myself watching and often saying
"Who talks like that?"Lines like "What kind of evil is
this" may relate to my grandma. They don't relate to me. Take a look at successful shows and you'll find more comic relief, more
intense drama/suspense, and a more general appeal simply because the events,
people, and attitudes are more believable and relateable. The playful banter
between Tony & McGee in NCIS is something that all ages can enjoy. The
suspense in Sherlock is amazing. The stupid moments we know we all have were
reflected well in Seinfeld. Yes, these shows have content we don't want.
But they also have 'the right content' which I think is missing here.
The right content has to be relateable on some level, on multiple levels.
I love Granite Flats. I think the second season will be even better.
