Shocking. Let everyone's contract expire and re load on has been free agents.

Mediocrity here we come!

What do you mean here we come, besides the 97 and 98 FINALS season, the Jazz have been mediocre the entire time the franchise has existed, and I'm a huge Jazz but even with my purple glasses i can be objective and say the jazz middle name is mediocrity.

Huge mistake not trading Hayward, just don't compound it by signing him to a Kirelinko type deal.

I'd offer him 7 million maximum, and if another team offers more, tchau Gordon, goodbye!

Guess they couldn't find a way to make themselves worse...

Even though the Jazz are currently categorized as mediocre, they're still often entertaining to watch... especially watching live at the ESC. That place has a spirit of it's own during close games.

With relatively new management and a new medium-term plan, there's a good probability the Jazz will improve before long. There's definitely some very good young talent on the team. And like the article points out, it will just take a bit more time and experience for that nucleus to improve.
In fact, the improvement over the season has been obvious. Before the season started, many experts picked the Jazz to set a new NBA record in futility.

Hopefully, we'll end up with a very good draft pick in a few months. It's an exceptionally deep draft. The deepest in a decade. Whether the Jazz play well or poorly right now, the situation is a catch 22 when considering the upcoming draft.

Given the team's apparent direction with a doable plan, I'm willing to exercise a bit more patience.

It really almost doesn't matter what the team did people get on here and complain. Fair enough but there are two sides.

How many big name franchise players were even available? How many of those really get you past the mediocrity you claim to detest?

Did I miss the fact LeBron, Durrant, and Paul George were available? They're not.

This team goes out and gets who right now? So we can win 10 more games this season and get a #16 pick instead of 7? Brilliant.

If anything we should have unloaded talent to lose more games and stockpile picks because nothing the Jazz did right now would make them a contender. Nothing.

What they did do was maintain MASSIVE cap flexibility when a large crop of free agents do become available. The did not take a bad contract or give up their expiring deals for nothing.

Every single player traded today would not have meant a hill of beans difference.

@Brave Sir Robin...your sarcasm was actually the irony because that is actually what they should have done if anything.

The draft is the only shot this team has because you are not stealing Lebron, Durrant, or George.

Didn't the Jazz receive a traded player exception for Carlos Boozer or someone? What ever happened to that? I thought it had to be used in something like 2 years or it would expire, but I never heard what came of it.

Like Brave Sir Robin, I thought the Jazz would trade perhaps Jefferson or Marvin Williams to get worse and thus a higher draft pick. Both of those guys have been major contributors.

Why make changes when their current business model looks to get them the high draft pick they're tanking for?

@Hoopty6

you must have forgotten how we got Big Al...we used the boozer exception....

im guessing fans wanted Hayward to be traded...If boston was willing to give a first rounder...Hayward would've been shipped...maybe the Jazz wont sign him...it is said that Phx is going to offer Hayward a poison contract so that the Jazz wont commit...

Package Kanter and Hayward to a team for a few picks...probably to Phoenix...make Burks the starter...if we get 2 first rounders from phoenix...we could land a replacement for Kanter and Hayward in the draft...heck i'd even move trey burke if we are set to get Dante Exum or Marcus Smart...here's hoping that Neto gets playing time next year...

I thought we got another or still had an exception, perhaps from something else. Oh well, memory aint what it used to be...

The Jazz have a very tough stretch of upcoming games. Based on comparative talent levels of teams they are scheduled to play, there are perhaps 5-6 winnable games left out of 29 (of course, the Jazz may lose games they are predicted to win and win games they are predicted to lose). National experts are predicting the Jazz will have the 5th worst record going into the draft lottery--which will probably ensure they will be in the top 7 picks. There are 7 very good players in the draft--Joel Embiid, Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Dante Exum, Julius Randle, Marcus Smart and Noah Vonleh. That is why the Jazz stood pat at the trade deadline.

Marvin Williams is a class act, and I hope he is re-signed by the Jazz. My nephew came from Idaho for a recent Jazz game, and after the game was at a local restaurant where he saw Williams and his family. He approached Williams for an autograph, who not only gave him an autograph, but insisted on talking with him for several minutes--telling him that he was not a celebrity, just an average person. And he's got skills!

I think management couldn't get anything for the "expiring contracts" or value for draft picks so they did the only thing they could, wait. I also think management knows they have a good team that only needs a coach but they have decided to honor the full term of Corbin's contract. Call it integrity or foolishness, take your pick.

I want my Coach of the Year back! (Hornacek)
The Jazz Brass let the Suns steal him away. Look at what Horny has done with that mediocre roster, minus Bledsoe, that's med-i-o-cre according to R.Sherman. I guess 'tanking' would be an afterthought with Horny as coach.
I wonder what fan reaction will be if Corbin is resigned for 2-3 years..

Mutiny! The fan base loathes Corbin. Management better get a new coach or they're going to lose a lot of fans.
