Let's see now, if I were writing a TV script for this event (fire always make great visuals) how would I write it. Guy with drug issues is so bored he starts a fire? Too weak a motivation. How could anyone benefit from a fire? Maybe by being hired by someone who had a reason to burn the place for profit or to save themselves from bankruptcy. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode!

Same thing happened in the Wilshire district in LA about 30 years ago on Christmas eve. Disgruntled construction worker torched the job site and partially burns adjacent building. The residents cost a bundle to be put up in comparable accommodations.

Suspect sounds like a class A citizen our community. It is scary that people that have the potential to do such destructive things live among us in our society and in our neighborhoods.
