Although they have some decent numbers, "playing at a high level" is not consistent with losing to teams like Pepperdine, Lola Mary community, and Portland nursing college.

Here's hoping they can bottle whatever it is they've done and serve it up to the RM's over the next few years. There are some start recruits now serving and will soon be serving missions. We'll be wanting them all to come back and play as well as these two have.

RE: Chris B.

If you are going to make a claim you should have evidence to back it up. Here, let me demonstrate...

Claim: Tyler Haws and Kyle Collinsworth have made smooth post-mission transitions.

Evidence: Tyler Haws is averaging 24.5 ppg (3rd in NCAAs), 1.0 stl, 3.9 rebounds, and 33.9 minutes against #23 SOS (per ESPN). Points scored against Top 100 Sagarin teams (or "playing at a high level"): 31 at Stanford, 20 at Iowa State, 25 at Texas, 17 at wichita State, 21 vs Utah State, 25 at Massachusets, 32 at Oregon, 33 vs. St. Mary's, 23 at Gonzaga.

Kyle Collingsworth is averaging 14.3 points (14th in WCC), 4.9 assists (3rd in WCC), 8 rebounds (3rd in WCC), 1.7 steals (3rd in WCC), and 33.9 minutes. Against good teams he did (points/rebounds/assists) 14/7/9 at Stanford, 11/9/4 at Iowa State, 13/8/5 at Texas, 6/9/3 at Wichita State, 7/13/8 vs. Utah State, 14/7/3 at MASS, 15/5/8 at Oregon, 13/7/4 at Gonzaga, and 20/9/2 vs. St. Mary's.

Seems like they are playing at a high level against great competition.

@Wiscougar,

So are you saying the rest of the team is just horrible if they cannot beat teams like Portland nursing college, Pepperdine, and Mary Lola community with these two great players?

LOL!

You should at least be thorough when listing the crummy teams that BYU lost to this year and include Utah, who has yet to win as many road games against PAC12 teams this year as BYU, has.

Kyle is practically perfect in every way. Please, just don't foul him.

"So are you saying the rest of the team is just horrible if they cannot beat teams like"...

Your original post wasn't about the rest of the team, it was about Haws and Collinsworth. I know it is nigh impossible for you to 1) stay on point, and 2) admit you were wrong, and you have once again demonstrated each of those points.

FACT, you are wrong in your assertion that Haws and Collinsworth are not "playing at a high level" simply because their teams lost to teams they should have beat.

FACT, simply losing a few games to bad teams doesn't inherently mean you are not a good team. For example in just the last week #2 Arizona lost to Cal, #5 SDSU lost to Wyoming, #10 Cincy lost by 20 to Southern Methodist.

FACT, Tyler Haws and Kyle Collinsworth have made smooth transitions from their missions to playing. Just a few short years ago few believed such a transition could occur. They have proven us wrong. Try to keep up. Go Cougs!

ESPN reporters are given haws his fair share of credit.
It is obvious since once poster doesn't even know the names of these universities that his opinion on this matter is in cognnizant and uneducated.

It seems that all the fans have to focus on is how bad BYU is doing because they have not had anything to cheer for at Utah. BYU may not have won a few games to teams that are not the highest quality, but so what? Who has not done that? The fact is that we have a lot to cheer for. Haws has been amazing. The team is fun to watch. And if we had as much money as Utah does, we could pay refs just like they do, we would have many more wins. However, I like it just the way it is. I like cheering for a team that has great character as well as talent. Go Cougs.....

Don't all those teams Chris B just mentioned have a better SOS and RPI rating than that the Utes?

I think Chris forgot to mention Loosing to the UTE's. That has to be the worst loss of the year. Of course it was PAC 12 refs. Just for good measure......

Wiscougarfan, let's not mix in facts. It destroys the fantasy.

CB also forget to mention that the utes could not even score 45 points at the former worst team in the pac, WSU. Oh, by the way, they lost that game. Until the utes joined the conference everyone was beating WSU in Pullman. And CB was touting Loveridge and Wright as the best players in the state. LOL,LOL
