Wow, I've never seen a fan use chemical wizardry to go at another fellow
fan like this. Calling someone a "double sulfate salt"? All he said was... "Utah is an improving program that is
still incapable of winning a conference road game and thus has no chance of
actually competing for a conference championship. As much as we may
hope to compete for a conference title, the sad truth is, we're not even
good enough to finish in the upper half of the conference."This
is a new low. Brutal
Thanks Alumnus or Alum for short both a specific chemical compound and a class
of chemical compounds. The specific compound is the hydrated potassium aluminium
sulfate (potassium alum) with the formula KAl(SO 4)2·12H 2O. More widely,
alums are double sulfate salts, with the formula AM(SO 4) 2·12H2O, where A
is a monovalent cation such as potassium or ammonium and M is a trivalent metal
ion such as aluminium or chromium(III).Utah will get the monkey off
their back and will start winning on the road and when they do they will be a
tough team to beat and will contend for the conference title.
Ut Buster: Speaking of SOS, what say you about the
"stellar" 2014 BYU football schedule. I am sure you will not have to
play very hard to get another bowl game.
CrowUtah is an improving program that is still incapable of winning
a conference road game and thus has no chance of actually competing for a
conference championship. As much as we may hope to compete for a
conference title, the sad truth is, we're not even good enough to finish in

@ down under No doubt it Utah would be undefeated and top dog in the wcc. After
all their 2nd rate team got hammered by Utah. There would be no real competition
for Utah if they were in the wcc.But Utah is an improving program
and within a year or two will be competing for a PAC12 championship while byu
will still be in the wcc trying to get past St Marys and Gonzaga.
Spokane UteSorry, but it doesn't sum up anything for the who
are still on the outside looking in at an NCAA berth.
You Y fans just crack me up. Seems you have all been blessed with selective
memory. Many of you have just plain forgotten that in head to head
competition back in December, your team got smoked by a Pac-12 team with ZERO
road wins. That's right . . . we Ute fans can all acknowledge that the
Utes have ZERO road wins this season. Now it's time for you all
to acknowledge the 81 - 64 drubbing your team took at the hands of the Utes.
But I won't hold my breath.
Down,The BPI was created by ESPN; specifically Jay Bilas, Joe
Lunardi along with with ESPN staff analysts as a better predictor and
improvement upon the RPI. The BPI index is based on W-L record, margin of
victory and an SOS that takes in to account not only an opponents win-loss
record (like the RPI) but also the quality of the wins and losses of the
opponent. Also, teams with close losses (see Utah) are rewarded more than team
with multiple blowouts (see BYU). BPIUtah 37BYU 46
Spokane,Just checked the newest TPI and it has BYU=45 Utah 172.
Spokane,Is the bpi a new ranking developed by the Utah alum?
Interesting Ranking. Per the BPI, Utah = 37; BYU = 46. I guess that, along with
score board pretty much sum it up.
timid sparrowUnfortunately for U, BYU's Top 50 RPI wasn't
nearly enough to counterbalance Utah's 350th WORST non-conference schedule.
In most of Utah's OOC opponents, and consequently, most of Utah's
wins, were against bottom 100 teams. In three seasons in the PAC 12,
the Utes have won exactly TWO road games, at Texas State and at Washington, NONE
Two road games = two road loses. Keep the perfect road record intact utes.
Brave,Shall we go back and loom at the past 13 games? Yeah, I didn't
Crow,Just you know wcc teams play on the road so you might want to rethink
@Down under"Please show us of us how the preseason patsies stack
up against anyone in the WCC and then we will talk."One of our
preseason patsies was BYU and Utah beat you into next Tuesday. So there's
one data point...
I am embarrassed for the y fans on this board. Not only did the Utes beat BYU
straight up but the Y has not had a good win since November. @utebusterYou pretty much summed up BYU's the scheduling philosophy for BYU
@Downunder Utah did face the 2nd best team in the wcc and throttled them by 17
points Utah would be the #1 team in the wcc. No doubt about it.
Brave,Please show us of us how the preseason patsies stack up against
anyone in the WCC and then we will talk. Yeah, I didn't think so.
Utah needs some road wins in the worst way. I hope that starts on this trip. USC
is very win-able. UCLA will a little bit tougher. @BraveRobinSirNicely done!
Utah is 7th right now in the PAC 12 which means we would be the home team
against #10 Oregon We would also avoid a quarterfinal matchup against Arizona,
and instead we would get UCLA, who we not only beat but dominated until the last
few minutes. That is a clear-cut path to the conference tournament semifinals
which Utah did a good job last year at acheiving. Utah should split on the road
this week with USC and UCLA we should move up since CO has a brutal road
schedule still left to go. Brave Sir Robin I think the wcc is
fighting the reputation as being a tough highschool division that is why the wcc
office is looking for a definate answer.
The Utes have continued to make some good progress every year under coach K. I
realize that our preseason schedule was not good, I don't think anyone in
the basketball program has claimed otherwise. No matter who the opponent is,
it's pretty easy to see the improvement of this team. Seems like each week
more and more guys are getting comfortable within the offense. The scoring has
been more evenly distributed than it has been for a few years.I hope
they can finally break through this week and get a win on the road. The USC
game will be the best chance they have. If they continue to distribute the ball
around and play good defense, they will have a shot.Go Utes!
I only comment every once and a while, but I just had to commend Brave Sir Robin
on a funny comment. Thanks for the laugh!Go Utes!
@Ute buster"Since when did div. 8 and high schools games even
count?"I'm not sure, but I bet a phone call to the WCC
office would yield a definitive answer.
"If you just rearrange reality to make it fit my viewpoint, you'd
understand where I'm coming from."That's good stuff,
Yes, they have 16 wins but how many of them really count that are not even in
the top 350 PRI?Since when did div. 8 and high schools games even count?
I can guarantee that the NCAA looks at the lowest preseason schedule in the
entire country when making their pairings. If you take off the 9cupcake
wins and put a few of them on the road then the utes may be at 12 wins at best.
I can only laugh when people make a federal case out of our road woes when it
coincides directly w/our throw-away season in '11-'12/essentially Y1
& Y2 in Coach K's rebuilding process AND the fact we still have 7
regular season games remaining. We're well ahead of schedule and
literally could just as easily be undefeated right now....I'm excited about
where we're at.p.s. Washington has a higher RPI than 7 wcc
teams....Talk about "weak foes"....For clarification, our RPI currently
sits at #99....Not too bad considering our OOC schedule which we arranged as we
were enduring our worst season in our proud/storied program's
I give the utes props for beating two weak pac foes at home. The RPI rankings
acknowledge their effort by lowering then 9 spots to 104.
@ Chris B.The utes had a good week on the court.Question: Coach
Holliday is tweeting about morning workouts at BYU, and the Utes are denying the
job offer. Do you have a source or is this an imaginative job change?
We won our 2 teams this weekend which proves we are a awsome road team so we
should dominate this week.Go Utes!
Great weekend for the Utes. We won two basketball games and took a
football coach from another state school. Go UTES
