BYU still can't put away a team. Even Santa Clara came back on them on Thursday. If they would have played another 10 minutes BYU would have lost. I wouldn't be surprised to see BYU go up with a big lead and then lose it again this year.

Lets see if Winder and Bartley get more playing time than a continually slumping Carlino.

BYU should not lose this game. Then again, they shouldn't have lost to USF last season at home either.

USF is a good team, but much of their recent win streak has taken place at home. In fact, they have played the bulk of the first half of their WCC schedule at home, with road games more weighted to the back half; the opposite of what BYU has faced. Yes, BYU and USF are playing for sole possession of 2nd place tonight, but BYU should have the edge for the rest of the way even if the Cougars lose this game. However, like I said earlier, the Cougars should not lose. Doesn't mean the won't, but they shouldn't.

The length of close basketball games is a turnoff, so I always hope for at least a 19 point win by the victor, as that will avert incessant fouling and time outs after each inbounding of the ball. Would love to see new rules that do not allow timeouts after, say, the two minute mark. Let them just play on to the finish. That would be more fun and a better indicator as to which is the better team. Since such a rule is not in place, hope the Cougars win by a large margin. Early Church meetings in the morning.

If Santa Clara had gotten within single digits, the starters would have been put back in the game. Yes, it's dangerous but winning by 13 when you'd been up by 26 isn't that big of a deal so late in the game. Pretty Rose knew how much time was left.

Cloudy weather in the Pacific Northwest makes some people depressed. In the last quarter against Santa Clara Haws did not play and the bench was cleared. That's hardly a failure of BYU to put away Santa Clara. It would have been poor coaching if BYU ran up the score beyond the 20 point margin and deny the bench an opportunity to play.

You must have been watching a different game.

BYU's reserves did give away some of BYU's 23-point lead in the closing minutes versus Santa Clara but the game had already been decided.
