What kind of noise, really, could the Utes possibly make in the 2nd half of PAC 12 play?

MAYBE pick up their 1st road win of the season, and 2nd road win EVER, in the conference?

Like that's going to impress anybody outside of the crimson bubble.

Unfortunately, playing the 350th worst non-conference schedule to start the season killed any chances the Utes might have had at getting an at-large NCAA tourney berth.

The only chance the Utes have to make the Big Dance now is to win the PAC 12 tourney, which is to say, NO CHANCE.

This team could make noise by stringing some wins together and setting itself with a decent seed in the NIT. Nobody was planning on Utah getting an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament this season.

Fact,

I see that BYU's worst loss of the season at the hands of the Utes still has you smarting.

The sun will come out... tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar.

U90, I see that Utah's best win of the season (and their only remotely 'decent' win amongst the 350th best prep school pre-season schedule) against BYU still has you thinking Ute basketball is good. I wouldn't brag too much about beating BYU. The Cougs aren't that good either, although they can win a game away from home.

I'd put Utah's win over UCLA as a better win than BYU.

"Nobody was planning on Utah getting an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament this season."

That was a given as soon as Hill and coach k scheduled the 350th WORST non-conference schedule in the country.

bottom dollar

#41 BYU(15-9) #12 SOS is BETTER THAN #110 Utah(14-7) #171 SOS

BYU is 5-5 (50%) versus RPI Top 100 teams; Utah is 3-6 (33%)

BYU is 1-3 versus AP/Coaches Top 25 teams with a win over #15/#18 Texas; Utah is 0-1

BYU has a PAC 12 road win over Stanford; Utah is winless on the road this season

It's blatantly obvious which team is a contender, and which team is only a pretender

"BYU is 5-5 (50%) versus RPI Top 100 teams; Utah is 3-6 (33%)"

Better cheque[actual]FACTS from Sagarin, so well-loved in Provo.

Utah is 1-2 against Top 25 and 2-4 against Top 50. On the other hand . . .
BYU is 0-3 against Top 25 and 2-5 against Top 50.

So you were right about one thing, but not as you intended:
"It's blatantly obvious which team is a contender . . ."
