Seattle's Super Bowl winning quarterback is 5'11' tall and was
only a 2 star recruit...all this talk and really who knows who will develop best
as college players? Speed is almost always a key factor for db's, skill
Chris BForget what the article danced around....I loved the "soft
shoe" routine of yours by avoiding the big losses by the Utes (Frison to OK
for one). Please keep on tapping.
Gee, this kid must not be any good. Utah didn't recruit him, after all. It's great looking at a map of where these recruits come from
seeing the breadth and variety of these recruits.
@ Sandyclaws: There are some teams that beat byu that did not go to
a bowl game. And, there are some independent teams that schedule their way to a
bowl game. Guess who????
Jaterrius Gulley is a great name and easy to remember. Do you recall what the
great Jerry Kramer (he should be in the NFL Hall of Fame!) said about the Dallas
Cowboys defensive lineman, Jethro Pugh, so many years ago in the Super
("Ice") Bowl in the early 60's? He said no one would remember the
name, Jerry Kramer, and no one would forget "Jethro Pugh". Turns out
Kramer won that battle and threw the block on Pugh that allowed Bart Starr to
squirt into the end zone and score the winning touchdown!
Power Conference Shower Conference. Let us know as soon as you can make it to a
bowl game - from the "Power Conference" that nearly guarantees a bowl
spot to every team with a pulse.
I've noticed that the "Power Conferences" have a lot of whimpy
teams in them. Kind of makes an offer from a "power conference" less
meaningful. There are some teams in "power conferences" that can't
even make it into a bowl game.
@ CBI would look at the Utah recruiting class and see the lack of power
conference offers.Happy Signing Day!
@Chris B Power conferences are only important to you. They miss good players
all the time. Gulley received exactly the name number of offers that Cody
Hoffman received: OneOffers are like jobs, you only need one.
Back talk-- You must have missed the memo that LDS missions are 2 years long.
Those guys (along with Tanner Mangum) won't be back for another year.
Why is it so important for s certain someone to gauge a player on how many
scholarships he was offered by the power conference teams? Worry about your own
teams recruits for once. Im sure this kid is going to be a stud and I am stoked
to see the Cougars recruiting in as many states as they can! Go Cougars!
“One of Georgia’s coaches called me right before I left on my trip
to BYU," Gulley said. “Part of me wishes a lot of these schools had
come earlier because there’s just no time to get to know them. But
that’s fine. I’m very comfortable with BYU and know that’s the
best place for me.”Interesting comment. Not exactly the kind
of comment you'd expect to hear from a kid that is thrilled with where he
is headed. Also, I'm having a hard time finding him on any of the major
recruiting services websites.
what ever happened to the Peoples kid from Idaho that signed last year? Isnt he
all they hopped he would be? Lots of talk also about outside
linebacker. Kafusi is now being moved there. Hasnt Hinds returned from his
mission yet? He was the last recruiing battle that BYU won against Utah. He was
supposed to be the next great outside linebacker. Must be a late missionary
return for this year.
Guess BYU standards trump a lot of other factors. Hey, nobody's forced to
go to Provo. Nice pick up. Go Cougars!
The article seems to dance around the issue. Of the 50+ power conference
programs, how many offered him a scholarship?
I love the name: Jaterrius Gulley! I can see it now ...Jaterrius
Gulley stuffs the 4th and Goal! The Cougars hold! The crowd goes wild! Jaterrius
Gulley stuffs the run!Everybody will remember this guy. Hope
he'll be another Ziggy!
