Proud of the Pac 12 Utes and Coach K.

A year ago we couldn't have beaten UCLA and had a lead for much of the game against the best team in the nation.

Onward and Upward to pac 12 glory!

For this reason it's great to see Utah establishing a great home court advantage once again.
The road is certainly tough in the Pac 12, which is exactly why Utah can't afford to drop games like they did against WSU and expect to finish in the top half of the league.
The Utes will be in the running for Pac 12 titles in the future if they can essentially win every home game while winning half their road games. Not an easy task but like I stated, at least they've taken the first step by making life difficult for opponents visiting the Huntsman Center.

Because teams typically play better at home.

Officiating does play a role. Look at the ASU game, what should have been Jordan Bachynski's 5th foul was called a charge on Delon Wright.

I'm not putting the loss on the officials, but when the home team gets those calls and the away team doesn't, that plays into why road wins are so scarce.

Utes are growing into a real competitor in the Pac 12. I lived for years in Champaign-Urbana, the home of the University of Illinois. We always fought to win the home games in the Big Ten, knowing that if we won half on the road we would be in contention.

So it all boils down to winning all of your home games and half of your road games to compete in the pac? Well, 1-20 on the road over three years is well on the way.

Gone fishin,
My spin would be that Utah can still go 5-4 on the road in conference.
I don't know who your team is but...
usu is 0-4 on the road in conference.
byu is 2-4 on the road in conference.

Eek,
Using that same logic then BYU would go 6-0 on the road given that the utes are 1-20 on the road in three years. Nice spin.

It the same everywhere.

Last time I looked Kentucky was ranked #11 in the country

15-0 at home
0-5 on the road

All 5 road losses are in conference (SEC)

ASU beat Cal last night on the road. I'm good. Sounds like a spin article to justify Utah's bad road performance.

Nice try.

Any home games against Utah is a 'W'.

Equals

"I'm not putting the loss on the officials, but I'm putting the loss on the officials."

Man up and own the loss.

"ASU beat Cal last night on the road. I'm good. Sounds like a spin article to justify Utah's bad road performance."

Here's what article stated--

"18 of the last 22 games played have been won by the home team. For the season, visiting squads are 14-30 in conference contests."

100% Fact..By "bad performance", meaning registering L or being non-competitive?

From article--

"The Utes’ four Pac-12 losses away from home....have come by a combined 18 points." [Other L by 2-PTS in OT.]

ASU has won 3 true road games this season [1 Neut-W CofCharleston], 2 in conf @USC & @CAL, RGames we'll get later....They beat UNLV by 6 pts early when they were struggling and now are merely OK in MWC....Not as impressive as originally thought....UNLV lost Exhibition to Dixie, as well.

Not diminishing ASU/Others, rather illustrating ASU doesn't = road warriors....4 Ls by 79 pts/BADNeutralLossvsMiamiEtc.

We've yet to master the art of closing-out games....A team must avoid getting destroyed if they wish for an opp to cl-out game, correct? We're extremely young/gaining experience/well ahead of rebuilding-schedule!

It should be noted that, in accumulating our current conf rd rec of 1-21, 9 Ls came during what effectively was a throw-away season in which Coach K was hired w/out any time to put together his very own recruiting class and was immediately thrust into the mode of just simply assuring he had enough warm bodies in merely avoiding any forfeits, let alone to in fact actually win any of them....This included, remarkably, leading ua down there in tucson, virtually from start-to-finish, before they stormed-back late to steal this game from us!

It illustrates further the caliber of HC Coach K is to milk such an impressive performance out of virtually an entire roster of kids merely passing through for 1 year, before they departed to yet another school, elsewhere!

Even so, we managed to secure 6 Ws in what potentially could've concluded w/a byu-like bottom-feeder record--Wasn't it 1 W in total for them during that season? Lol

Never said they did. ASU also has 3 road loses in conference, but I'm not going to make excuses for them. They weren't as good as the home team. No ref problems, no "it's an away game" problem. Just got outplayed.

Utah...has just been out played. No moral victories, no "almost" comments. Just out played. They are not as good as every ute fan on these boards likes to believe.

"Man up and own the loss."

Good call UteTrog, just own it!

"Utah...has just been out played. No moral victories, no 'almost' comments. Just out played. They are not as good as every ute fan on these boards likes to believe."

Not even remotely the case....Getting destroyed by 79 points, collectively, is entirely 100% contrary to repeatedly having the ball for potentially the game's final possession/game-winning shot....The former constitutes getting, "outplayed", the latter constituting a game played dead-evenly by both teams, yet one must emerge from it victoriously, nothing more.

See, we don't know what's it's like to get destroyed and have zero chance at winning long, long before the game's end....The closest to it was against #1 ua on their homecourt, yet it wasn't under their control 'til we had most of the 2nd half played-out and, even then, it wasn't totally out-of-reach 'til the very final seconds.

No amount of Spin can even remotely come close to cracking my unequivocally full-proof set of Facts above!
