Great game to watch! Aggies nearly pulled the upset. The part of the game that I think the Aggies really blew an opportunity to pull the upset was during that five minute stretch late in the 2nd half when the Aggies lead 52-48, and the Aztecs didn't make a field goal and had 0 points during that stretch. If Utah State would've made a couple shots during that period to stretch the lead to 7 or 8 points, they'd win this game. Gotta credit San Diego State for playing gritty defense during their slump. Aggie fans should see this game in good perspective. Back in the good old days in the WAC, USU would go 18-0 at home for the season. Welcome to the Mountain West Conference. Those undefeated days at home in the WAC are over but that's because we're in a better conference so we have to expect losses like this on occasion. Hey, we took the number 7 team in the nation in overtime and almost beat them. Carry on and beat New Mexico on Tuesday.

BYU looses in triple OT. How many close games Utah lost? Now USU joins the club. Why can't Utah teams finish off their opponents. It seems to be a pattern. Can't remember the last time a team from Utah won a close game or pulled off a big road win. Close doesn't count.

re NeilT: Utah Jazz won a close one last night. Comes down to who has prepared better, who wants it more. Utah State only got to shoot 7 free throws in an overtime win at home? Maybe they need to attack the basket more on offense.

So every game comes down to who wants it more or is better prepared? Sometimes the better team just wins. Sometimes there are injuries or fluke plays that decide games, it's not just who wants it more.

That was an incredible game. Probably either the 2nd or 3rd best basketball game on any level I've ever been to. The best I've went to is still when Maryland upset Duke the year the Terps won the National Championship! Go Aggies!

Even when they lose the fan's still praise them. Don't they know the team lost?

@ Stang08

What I praise is the effort. Yes, Stang we know we lost. Losing is part of the game. I'd expect any reasonable fan will look at a basketball schedule and realize their team is going to receive some losses. Do you with your team? This is one of those home games for the Aggies that I knew a potential loss could occur as I looked at the schedule. SDSU is a good team you'd expect to pick a number and get in the losing line. Kansas had too at home of all places which I'd concede is a tougher home court environment than the Spectrum. But even with losses you can still take positives from them especially against a top 10 opponent. Quite frankly the loss against Air Force stung a lot more than this one because we had no business losing that game. For many odd pickers, Utah State had no business taking this game to overtime. I believe the Aggies will be a better team despite the loss because of the confidence boost they received that they took the 7th ranked team in the nation down the wire.

Why would you have a confidence boost when you lost?

Stang0, what kind of confidence boost does SUU have with only one win sixteen losses? Part of being a fan is supporting your team when they lose. I would expect you to continue to support your birds even though they are obviously a very poor basketball team this year. Why shouldn't Aggies be proud of their game against #7 team in the country? Taken to overtime, great effort.

San Diego moved up to number 5 in the polls after beating USU in overtime. That says a whole lot about the Aggies effort against a top 5 team. The wins will come. Love the MWC!

@Go Big Blue

It says they lost to a top 5 team. I'm not proud of my team when they lose. A loss is a loss. The aggies have forgotten that.

The Aggies competed at a high level. Something that thunderbirds no very little about.

What has happened to Medlin? This is the second game he has given up the rock to someone else to take the last shot.

Stang0, the Aggies still deserve praise don't you think? What do you have to say about SUU, anything? Losing to #5 team in the country in overtime is a whole lot different that losing by 20 to an unranked team like SUU.

@Go Big Blue

Remember when we took you to the wire? You only won by 3 points. The aggie basketball team has never been very good.

@tinplater

No the don't. SUU stinks this year. They haven't been able to pull it together and get more then one win. It's no secret my team isn't very good. Let's get off that for a minute and get back to talking about the not so good aggies and how they probably won't have to embarrass themselves in the NCAA's this year. You lost and you are still giving the quiters praise. That is sad. If you took them to overtime why couldn't you close the game out? Because you aren't very good.

tinplater

First of all. Stang0, taking the number 5 team in the country to overtime is something the vast majority of teams can't do. And someone has to win, someone has to lose. I'm not saying the Aggies are good this year..I'm saying I support them because I am a fan, win or lose. But for you, if you don't win, there is nothing in it. Sad way to view sports. It isn't about being the best, or even among the best, it is about competing hard, playing to the best of your ability. A concept you can't seem to grasp.

Stang08
Southern, UT

Why couldn't you close it out? Sadly "playing to the best of your ability" is something the aggies can't do. Were you around when I commented on the SUU playoff article? I was proud even though they lost. But for you, it's the WAC 2.0. One of the easiest conferences in the world and you can't win. What does that say about the aggies? They are horrible.

tinplater
scottsdale, AZ

Stang0, if the Aggies are "horrible" then what is SUU with one win in 16 tries? Give me an adjective. At least the Aggies have won more than they have lost. And if you think the MWC is an easy conference, you are clearly exposing your lack of basketball knowledge.

Stang08
Southern, UT

Glad you're keeping up with SUU basketball. Yes we are horrible but we aren't talking about the Thunderbirds. When am I not "exposing my lack of basketball knowledge" in your eyes? The WAC 2.0 is easy. After all, they let USU in. Way back when and by that I mean when TCU, Utah, and BYU were in the conference no one could say that. Since TCU went to the BIg12, Utah went to the PAC12, and BYU went on their own the WAC 2.0 has been really laughable. I know you disagree and you are going to say I don't know what I'm talking about but by saying that you are not making a good defense. It just means you can't come up with a statement to back it up. I just did so there you go.

tinplater
scottsdale, AZ

Stang0:
1. A true fan supports his team win or lose..that is why we Aggies support USU, you apparently only support success.
2. The MWC (WAC 2.0 to you) has the currently ranked #5 team that USU took to overtime.
3. The Pac 12 has #1 Arizona
That is it for both conferences in the top 25. No Utah, No BYU, No SUU. To disparage the MWC in basketball just reflects upon you.
